</h2>General Description: An OU Health Registered Nurse (RN) I works under general supervision, providing the highest quality of care to patients in a hospital setting with health problems ranging from simple to complex. RN I represents the nurse who is a novice or an advanced beginner advancing to competent. While advancing from novice to competent, the nurse relies on rules rather than principles which are independent of specific situations. The advanced beginner may have enough real experience to begin to formulate principles.
Essential Responsibilities
<ul><li>Aligns behaviors with OU Health values and maintains nursing professional practice standards.
</li><li>Assumes responsibility for an assigned patient or group of patients.
</li><li>Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, noting all changes in physician order on assigned patients.
</li><li>Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.
</li><li>Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes the physiological manifestations of patients, and intervenes when necessary.
</li><li>Administers medication as prescribed.
</li><li>Initiates, regulates and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products.
</li><li>Delivers patient care safely and competently.
</li><li>Resolves patient complaints in a timely manner in accordance with policy and in collaboration with support staff.
</li><li>Informs patient and family of hospital procedures and shares care plan during the time of care and at the time of discharge.
</li><li>Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
</li><li>Fosters a growth mindset through seeking mentorship, remaining open to coaching and feedback, and maintaining professional certification(s)/licensure in order to perpetually develop and uphold the skills required for proficiency within the nursing profession.
</li><li>Develops a professional career plan and establishes personal, performance goals in alignment with enterprise-wide metrics, frequently measuring progress with department leadership.
</li><li>Fosters an inclusive workforce where individual differences are valued and maximized to achieve OU Health&rsquo;s winning aspiration.

</li></ul>Minimum Qualifications
Education: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
Experience: 0-3 years of experience in patient care as a Registered Nurse.
License/Certification/Registration:
<ul><li>Current Registered Nurse License (RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact Registered Nurse (eNLC)).
</li><li>Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire.
</li></ul>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

</li><li>Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques.

</h2>The Certified Medical Assistant I works alongside Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers to provide direct patient care according to state and federal guidelines. This position plays an important role in the ambulatory setting by not only performing clinical and administrative duties but also helping patients feel at ease and understanding provider instructions. 
 
Essential Responsibilities
R esponsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position.
<ul><li>Provides direct patient care by taking vitals, patient history, venipuncture, lab, x-ray, referrals, and patient phone messages as directed by the provider and/or clinical supervisor
</li><li>Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires
</li><li>Contributes to the assessment/re-assessment of patients
</li><li>Monitors and documents patient status
</li><li>Manages large call volume while maintaining excellent telephone etiquette
</li><li>Organizes workflow to meet patient needs in a timely manner
</li><li>May retrieve and transport medications, instruments and supplies.
</li><li>Moderate exposure to hazardous risks, including potential for exposure to infections and communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, electrical equipment, chemicals
</li><li>Must follow standard precautions
</li><li>Responsible for stocking exam rooms, taking inventory, and ordering supplies.
</li><li>Makes scheduling arrangements with other healthcare professionals and facilities.
</li><li>Assists with procedures. Maintaining sterile field and specimen labeling when necessary.
</li><li>Gathers and documents information about patient condition, which include lab values, pain levels, patient education needs, nutritional status and potential complications
</li><li>Performs cleaning, sterilization and/or high-level disinfection of scopes, probe, instruments and equipment according to manufacturer instructions for use.
</li><li>Participates in the development of the plan of care, including implementation and evaluation of appropriate patient care interventions which may include oral, intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous medication administration (exclusive of narcotics) as directed by a physician or physician assistant.
</li><li>Reinforcing patient education about medications, post-surgical care, special diets, and changes in treatment plans.
</li><li>Transmitting prescription refills as directed
</li><li>Arranging for hospital admissions and patient care services
</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned
</li></ul>Minimum Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program preferred.
Experience: 0-3 years of experience in Patient Care as a Medical Assistant or similar patient care role preferred.
License/Certification/Registration: Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire.
Additionally, one of the following certifications are required upon hire:
