We are seeking a skilled Junior Scrum Master to guide our teams in delivering high-quality solutions through effective Agile practices. If you're passionate about enabling others to do their best work and enjoy bringing clarity and structure to complex initiatives, we'd love to have your expertise to lead the Agile journey supporting the Department of Veteran Affairs.
Position Description: The Junior Scrum Master will coach a development team and focus on sprint goals using scrum principles and concepts to ensure a project is successfully progressing. This role supports the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Minimum/General Experience: 2 years of scrum master experience
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field; SAFe Scrum Master Certification (SSM)
Essential Skills/Qualifications:<ul><li>
Knowledge of Scrum techniques and artifacts (e.g., definition of done, user stories, automated testing, backlog refinement)</li><li>
Ability to communicate technical ideas in a non-technical way</li><li>
Ability to facilitate discussion and decision making</li><li>
Knowledge of techniques used to fill in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (e.g., Burndown charts, various Retrospective formats, handling bugs)</li><li>
Knowledge of Agile frameworks and techniques (e.g., Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Kanban, Acceptance Test-Driven Development (ATDD), Test-Driven Development (TDD), continuous integration, continuous testing, pairing, Agile games)</li><li>
Knowledge of software development and the software development lifecycle (SDLC)</li><li>
Experience with project and issue tracking tools (e.g., Atlassian Jira)</li><li>
Experience with Microsoft (MS) Teams online collaboration tools</li><li>
Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li><li>
Excellent organizational skills</li><li>
Experience with problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills</li><li>
Experience supporting a federal government department</li><li>
Experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (preferred)</li></ul>
General Physical Requirements needed to perform the essential functions of this job may vary based on the location of the assignment.<ul><li>
Assignment Location - Remote</li><li>
Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.</li><li>
Typing, communicating, repetitive motions.</li><li>
Close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, view computer monitors and read. May need to view presentation screens and other visual aids in a virtual setting.</li><li>
Inside environmental conditions with protection from outside elements.</li></ul>
Security: Ability to obtain/maintain a Federal Civilian Public Trust<ul><li>
U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident that has lived in the United States for at least 3 years</li></ul>

Covers 10 year period and in some instances lifetime events</li><li>
OPM Security Investigations Index (SII)</li><li>
DOD Defense Central Investigations Index (DCII)</li><li>

Acceptable Credentials
Tasks/activities include, but are not limited to:<ul><li>
Assists software development teams to apply the Scrum framework</li><li>
Educates teams on refining and maintaining the product backlog</li><li>
Plans out deliverables and helps teams monitor performance</li><li>
Resolves issues that hinder the teams' work</li><li>
Manages each project's scope and timeline</li><li>
Coordinates sprints, retrospective meetings, and daily stand-ups</li><li>
Facilitates internal communication and effective collaboration</li><li>
Utilizes project and issue tracking tools (e.g., Atlassian Jira)</li><li>
Utilizes the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)</li></ul>
CompensationBenefits: The annual projected pay range for this position is $64,372.81 - $71,525.34 with consideration being given to various factors including but not limited to qualifications, experience, job responsibilities, and geographic location.
