The Job</b></h3><p>
The Design Specialist is responsible for foundational design support, project data preparation, and accurate workflow management to enable efficient work by senior Designers. Their work will enable success for the design team, and develop themselves as professional designers.
</p><p>This position will be based in-person in our Downtown Vancouver, WA office.</p><p>
The hiring range for this position is $52,000 - $66,000</p><p></p><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Job Duties</b></h3><ul>
<li>Set up project folders, naming conventions, and design files using established standards
</li><li>Enter initial project data and maintain status updates throughout the design workflow
</li><li>Review architectural files, site photos, and project documents for completeness and clarity
</li><li>Identify missing or unclear information using the standardized intake checklist and escalate when needed
</li><li>Produce lighting-specific 3D CAD renderings and layouts
</li><li>Deliver accurate and organized design outputs appropriate to the Design Specialist scope
</li><li>Build basic fixture schedules for assigned projects
</li><li>Work toward meeting established timelines and service-level expectations
</li><li>Produce initial layout markups on floor plans to support downstream design tasks
</li><li>Update marked PDFs for internal review and coordination
</li><li>Model existing lighting infrastructure in AGi32
</li><li>Apply simple design edits based on redline instructions, such as fixture shifts, note updates, or part-number changes
</li><li>Sort, tag, and maintain field photos by space type or installation considerations
</li><li>Identify potential design-impacting site conditions and escalate when appropriate
</li><li>Complete pre-submission checklists to confirm required files and design components
</li><li>Ensure all design packets meet Design Specialist documentation standards prior to handoff
</li><li>Support overall consistency and quality within the design library
</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned</li>

Requirements</b></p><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Education &amp; Experience
</b></h3><ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in engineering or design related field preferred
</li><li>2 to 3 years of relevant experience
</li><li>AutoCAD, or similar design software experience required
</li><li>Experience in lighting industry, preferred but not required
</li><li>Experience working in energy efficiency preferred but not required
</li></ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Technical
</b></h3><ul><li>Understanding of lighting basics.
</li><li>Ability to read simple architectural drawings and floor plans.
</li><li>Competency in relevant design tools (AGI32 basics, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or internal tools).
</li></ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Operational
</b></h3><ul><li>Strong organization and attention to detail.
</li><li>Ability to follow structured workflows and SOPs accurately.
</li><li>Comfortable working within project management systems.
</li><li>Able to take initiative and use critical thinking skills to ensure handoff projects are completed correctly.
</li></ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Quality &amp; Accuracy
</b></h3><ul><li>Ability to identify file gaps or inconsistencies using checklists.
</li><li>Basic understanding of how to approve or disqualify audit notes with guidance.
</li><li>Commitment to producing clean, consistent documentation.
</li></ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Communication &amp; Collaboration
</b></h3><ul><li>Proactively asks clarifying questions and escalates issues appropriately.
</li><li>Works well with Design Specialist 2 and Proposal Specialists to keep projects moving.
</li><li>Shows initiative in learning and supporting process improvements.
</li></ul><p></p><p>A valid, insurable driver's license is required.</p><p></p><p>
