About the Job:
PURPOSE STATEMENT: 
 
The Nurse Supervisor plans and supervises direct care nursing staff, assisting in managing, establishing, and fulfilling a vision and strategy for patient care excellence and standards of practice in the nursing department. Responsible for oversight of the Units for coverage needs related to acuity, absences, and leave time.
Roles and Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:<ul><li>
Provides, delegates, coordinates and evaluates care of patients through the collaborative efforts of team members and in accordance with the nursing process and standards of care and practice. Provide general nursing care in a facility.</li><li>
Identifies and prioritizes issues of importance, including those priority issues as set by leadership. Collaborates with department leaders and corporate leaders, as needed.</li><li>
Communicates instructions, expectations and timelines clearly and concisely.</li><li>
Assists in updating and revising the plan of care as goals/objectives are met or when the patient's condition changes.</li><li>
Ensures all patients receive a comprehensive nursing assessment within eight (8) hours of admission, admitting physician orders completed and care plan initiated.</li><li>
Coordinates nursing, medical and/or behavioral health care activities with all staff to ensure smooth and complete coordination of efforts during shared shift.</li><li>
Performs storage, accounting for and administration of medications / medical equipment. Removes from service nonfunctioning equipment and initiates needed replacements. Consults with medical staff or pharmacist when a side-effect or error is suspected or detected.</li><li>
Provides professional and administrative leadership to staff.</li><li>
Maintains productivity levels that are aligned with patient census, curtailing unnecessary overtime and/or excessive staff work hours.</li><li>
Manages staff scheduling and maintains an updated plan for contingency staffing.</li><li>
Maintains accountability expectations for self and staff in all areas of job performance.</li><li>
Engages staff in quality and safety basics to ensure sustained, measurable compliance.</li><li>
Identifies staff educational needs and ensures they are addressed with education programs that are attended by staff.</li><li>
Holds staff accountable for non-compliance and patient safety concerns, as well as attendance, following policies, behavior, and adherence to code of conduct.</li><li>
Performs rounds to all inpatient treatment units to provide monitoring, supervision, direction, and assistance as needed.</li><li>
Schedules staff to ensure full coverage at all times and to ensure staffing is accurate according to established guidelines and unit needs.</li><li>
Assures admission intake assessments are completed accurately and followed up per Hospital policy, provides referrals as needed or assists with admissions.</li><li>
Participates in interviewing, orienting, mentoring, retaining, and training of staff as needed.</li><li>
Documents medical, behavioral health information and nursing care.</li><li>
Administers medications and maintains records in accordance with company policies and procedures.</li><li>
Provides structure and maintains a therapeutic environment in collaboration with the patients and other care providers.</li><li>
Coordinates with Human Resources in reviewing staff timecards for payroll pre-process to ensure accurate employee worked hours.</li><li>
Ensures adequate inventory of supplies is maintained for the units and completes purchase order requests as needed.</li><li>
Collects and organizes the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and the Destruction of Medication Log upon patient discharge as submitted by Nurses.</li><li>
Addresses employee performance improvement issues at the time noticed and assists with any follow-up as necessary.</li><li>
Assists in collection of data to develop QI reports and graphs.</li><li>
May work a shift on a specific unit when all other efforts in filling the shift has been exhausted.</li></ul>
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li>
Graduation from an approved/accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.</li><li>
Two or more years&rsquo; experience as an RN required.</li><li>
One or more years&rsquo; experience in behavioral health experience required.</li></ul>
LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:<ul><li>
Valid current RN license from the state or from a compact state, where applicable.</li><li>
Certified in Psychiatric Nursing preferred.</li><li>
CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).</li><li>
First aid may be required based on state or facility.</li></ul>
WORK LOCATION:
This position is onsite at the facility and is not a remote position.
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:
One or more years&rsquo; supervisory or charge nurse experience preferred.

About the Job:
PURPOSE STATEMENT: 
 
The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care to patients. Supervising care treatment and services of patient care provided by LPNs, CNAs and other staff on assigned unit and shift. Developing, implementing, and evaluating an individual plan of care for each patient. Assessment and re-assessment of patients. Communicating appropriate information with the interdisciplinary team. Reporting patient concerns and changes in condition to supervisor and/or physician in a timely manner.
Roles and Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
<ul><li>Provides and coordinates care by assessing physical and behavioral health needs of patient, develops and implements nursing care plans, maintains medical records and educates patients and their families about various physical and behavioral health conditions while ensuring patient safety at all times.</li><li>
Assesses patient&rsquo;s status on an ongoing basis and communicates finding to the providers timely.</li><li>
Ensures nursing treatment plans are specific to assessed needs and initial treatment plan is completed upon admission.</li><li>
Obtains provider&rsquo;s orders (verbal or via telephone) accurately and documents appropriately; transcribes and reviews provider&rsquo;s orders ensuring all required elements are present and appropriate per policy and procedures.</li><li>
Accurately administers medications per ordered utilizing at least two patient identifiers.</li><li>
Notifies providers of significant changes in status such as difficulties with detox, medical emergencies, pertinent lab results, or change in medical status regarding response to medications, etc.</li><li>
Assesses and documents effects of PRN medications.</li><li>
Maintains accountability of administration, recording, control and security of medications, including narcotics.</li><li>
Completes admission and discharge processes efficiently and accurately as directed.</li><li>
Confers regularly with treatment team (e.g., nurses, therapists, program managers, physician) regarding patient care. Attends and participates in the unit activities such as therapy groups, family meetings as appropriate, staffing, unit meetings, etc.</li><li>
Provides education/explanation to patients, families, and co-workers regarding medication usage/maintenance, common side effects, patient's rights, as well as other topics necessary for optimal patient care.</li><li>
Monitors patient acuity, census, staffing needs, and escalates coverage needs to supervisor/Charge RN.</li><li>
Ensures thorough, accurate documentation is completed for all patients on each shift and patient assignment sheets are completed daily and tasks are carried out as assigned.</li><li>
Communicates thorough hand-off reports to oncoming staff and supervisors.</li></ul>
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li>
Graduation from an approved/accredited school of nursing.</li><li>
One or more years&rsquo; nursing experience within clinical area of service provided by facility preferred.</li><li>
Experience in behavioral health/psychiatric/addiction recovery environment preferred.</li><li>
Knowledge of and experience with psychotropic medications and medication administration procedures.</li><li>
Ability to apply nursing standards and practice within an acute psychiatric setting</li></ul>
