 Purpose Statement
 
 
 The job of Teacher - Elementary is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional process with specific responsibility for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.

 Essential Functions
 
 
 
 Administers developmental testing programs and/or subject specific assessments, etc. for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans.
 
 
 Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student's achievements; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.
 
 
 Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration.
 
 
 Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
 
 
 Counsels students for the purpose of improving performance, health status, problem solving techniques and a variety of personal issues.
 
 
 Demonstrates pedagogical approaches that engage learners for the purpose of providing an effective program that addresses individual student requirements.
 
 
 Differentiates classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning within established lesson plans.
 
 
 Directs assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers and/or student workers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students.
 
 
 Facilitates student learning for the purpose of achieving success in academic, interpersonal and daily living skills through a defined lesson plans.
 
 
 Instructs students for the purpose of improving their success in academics through a defined course of study.
 
 
 Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
 
 
 Monitors students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, playground, field trips, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
 
 
 Organizes age appropriate indoor and outdoor activities for the purpose of ensuring student participation in learning activities.
 
 
 Participates on PLC team for the purpose of reviewing data and instructional practices.
 
 
 Participates in a variety of meetings (e.g. staff, district, IEPs, 504's, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
 
 
 Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements.
 
 
 Reports health and safety issues to assigned administrator and appropriate agencies (e.g. fights, suspected child or substance abuse, inappropriate social behaviors, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining students personal safety, a positive learning environment and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
 
 
 Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
 
 
 Responds to inquires from a variety of sources (e.g. other teachers, parents, administrators, etc.) for the purpose of resolving issues, providing information and/or direction.
 
 
 
 Other Functions
 
 
 
 Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

 SKILLS are required to perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: applying assessment instruments; operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; teaching Arizona State recognized standards; preparing and maintaining accurate records.
 
 
 KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: appropriate codes, policies, regulations and/or laws; age appropriate activities; lesson plan requirements; stages of child development; behavioral management strategies.

Chaperone /Community Volunteer/Volunteer Coach 
Purpose Statement
The job of Head Coach is done for the purpose/s of designing and implementing the athletic program for assigned sport(s) in accordance with applicable rules and regulations; providing supervision of other coaching personnel; providing supervision of students during all aspects of the program; using sound instructional techniques in overseeing program activities; serving as a positive role model to student athletes; and serving in a liaison capacity for the school and program with other schools both within and/or outside the district, to the community, and to various organizations. Individuals in this job classification are assigned to a position for assigned sport(s) and oversees all aspects of the respective athletic program(s). 
This job reports to Athletic Director 
Essential Functions<ul><li>
Assesses student athletes for the purpose of providing feedback to students on their individual performance and/or determining team placement.</li><li>
Attends a variety of meetings, workshops, conferences, etc. for the purpose of receiving and conveying information related to their role.</li><li>
Conducts a variety of supporting activities (e.g. parent orientations, recognition events, banquets, etc.) for the purpose of providing information regarding the program and/or recognizing participants&rsquo; accomplishments.</li><li>
 Develops team and individual practice regimes for student athletes (e.g. strength, speed, agility, nutritional, injury prevention, etc.) for the purpose of enhancing and improving their performance.</li><li>
Develops game strategies/plans (e.g. analyzes opponent strengths and weaknesses, analyzing athlete abilities, creating plays/strategies, etc.) for the purpose of preparing the team and individual student athletes for the competition.</li><li>
Guides other coaching personnel as may be appropriate in instructional techniques, organization of practices, supervision guidelines and responsibilities, etc. for the purpose of providing guidance and mentoring.</li><li>
Identifies program needs for the purpose of providing recommendations of expenditures for activities, equipment, supplies, etc. that will enhance the assigned athletic program.</li><li>
Implements practice schedules and related events (e.g. usage of facilities and equipment, staff assignments, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring efficient program operation.</li><li>
Instructs student athletes for the purpose of promoting individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.</li><li>
Maintains a variety of records (e.g. game/student athlete statistics, insurance, signed permission forms, emergency information, schedules, equipment inventories, etc.) for the purpose of complying with district, athletic conference, state requirements, and/or report scores and strategies to local news media.</li><li>
Monitors student athletes&rsquo; academic eligibility for the purpose of both complying with AIA requirements as well as providing appropriate intervention (e.g. counseling, tutoring, etc.) to students identified as needing assistance to maintain their athletic eligibility.</li><li>
Oversees assistant coaches, student managers, volunteers, etc. for the purpose of providing direction and monitoring activities.</li><li>
Promotes athletic program through a variety of activities (e.g. conducts off-season clinics, information on skill-camps, attends community meetings, etc.) for the purpose of increasing interest and participation.</li><li>
Responds to inquiries of students, parents, other school personnel, media representatives, college representatives, etc. for the purpose of providing information, assistance and/or direction.</li><li>
Keeps their school athletic director informed when issues arise that impact the school&rsquo;s athletic program (e.g. liability concerns, parent concerns, etc.).</li><li>
Provides appropriate and prudent supervision for all athletes and students involved in the program.</li><li>
Explains and discusses the PVUSD Athletic Code of Conduct with all athletes in their program.</li><li>
Maintains high standards of personal conduct. Coaches should serve as role models for their athletes.</li><li>
Ensures that all coaches involved with their program, whether paid or volunteer are cleared through the PVUSD Human Resources Department.</li></ul>
Other Functions
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
