Responsibilities

Education

Must be a graduate and have an Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care from an accredited American Medical Association (AMA) program or completed a Committee on Accreditation Respiratory Care (CoARC) approved Respiratory Care Certification Program.</li></ul>

Certification/Registration/Licensure

Must have a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license from the Texas Medical Board.</li><li>

Must have a current Healthcare Provider CPR course completion card prior to hire and/or placement in job from one of the following: - American Heart Association - American Red Cross - Military Training Network</li></ul>

Responsibilities

Evaluates the need for service delivery by incorporating established protocols, physical assessment, physician interaction, patient history, and clinical judgment into the decision process. Provides type and frequency of service that is consistent with patient status.</li><li>
Maintains and applies knowledge of indications, actions, interactions, and adverse reactions of respiratory active drugs including those which produce a secondary respiratory effect, in order to provide optimal patient care.</li><li>
Performs and documents diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in keeping with departmental standards for quality and service indicators. Matches equipment needs with associated diagnostic/therapeutic intervention. Demonstrates patient centered/patient-valued behaviors.</li><li>
Troubleshoots respiratory equipment to ensure appropriate function. Removes and labels contaminated or malfunctioning equipment for processing as described in departmental objectives.</li><li>
Promptly responds to requests for care. Provides timely reports, on transferred patients, to receiving therapy which includes priority status and pertinent case-related data. Gives and receives shift reports to the assigned therapist to ensure a clear picture of patient baseline status and care needs.</li><li>
Primary areas of responsibility will be limited to non-ICU patients.</li></ul>

Primary Purpose 
 
Administers anesthesia and anesthesia-related care from pre-anesthetic patient assessment and evaluation through post-anesthetic patient follow-up, evaluation, and care, formulating and carrying out anesthetic patient care plans in collaboration with attending anesthesiologists to facilitate quality patient care, comfort, and satisfaction during diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures.

Education

Must be a graduate of a Nurse Anesthesia Program accredited by the Council of Nurse Anesthesia (COA) or its predecessor.</li></ul> 

Experience 
 
Equivalent Education and/or Experience Certification/Registration/Licensure

Must have a current, valid RN license or temporary RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing or a valid Compact RN license.</li><li>
Must have a current license or temporary authorization (interim approval not to exceed 120 days from date of issuance) as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with authorization to practice as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) by the Texas Board of Nursing.</li></ul> 

Must have a current healthcare provider CPR certification from
