The company&rsquo;s headquarters are in Moline, Illinois with approximately 100 employees.Job OverviewThe mechanical designer will be engaged in the design of mechanical and electromechanical products for custom-ordered laboratory equipment. The successful candidate will create designs, assembly drawings, detail drawings, schematics and bills of material. Additionally, the designer will participate in multifunctional teams developing new products, which are the basis for future success and growth of the company. Application of relevant national and international codes and standards is required.Job Responsibilities<ul><li>Design custom systems based on proven designs to meet customer requirements.</li><li>Enter information into enterprise resource planning software including item masters, materials lists and method of manufacture operations.</li><li>Prepare technical documentation packages to comply with national and international codes.</li><li>Initiate, evaluate, and complete engineering changes of standard product offerings.</li><li>Review sales order specifications and customer requirements to evaluate feasibility of design and adherence to quality requirements.</li><li>Support assembly and testing activities to ensure products and systems conform to sound engineering design, relevant codes and customer specifications.</li><li>Ensure sound engineering practices are followed in accordance with ISO 9001:2015, ASME, PED, CE and various other certification bodies.</li><li>Provide technical support to sales staff for the preparation of quotations and service-related inquiries.</li><li>Communicate effectively with personnel from other departments to identify needs and evaluate alternative technical solutions.</li></ul>Required Qualifications&middot; Associate&rsquo;s degree in mechanical design or related field, relevant work experience considered.&middot; 1-5 years mechanical design experience.&middot; Strong technical knowledge of mechanical principles (force, pressure, stress, torque, friction, etc.).&middot; Software knowledge: MS Office, ERP software, 3D CAD: part and assembly modeling, drawing creation, sheet metal (SolidWorks preferred).&middot; Ability to read detail part prints, assembly prints, schematics and bills of material.&middot; Ability to apply relevant national and international codes and standards.&middot; Ability to work in a self-directed manner on assigned tasks.Compensation:Competitive compensation package, $55,000-$65,000 base pay, depending on qualifications and experience plus participation in bonus programs that traditionally exceed 10% of pay.Benefits:&middot; Generous company 401k match of 7&frac34;% if you contribute at least 4%.&middot; Defined Benefit Pension Plan (rare!)&middot; Competitive Health and Dental Insurance&middot; Flexible Spending Account for dependent care expenses&middot; Paid Time Off for Holidays, Vacations and Personal Convenience&middot; Group and Voluntary Life Insurance&middot; Short- and Long-Term Disability&middot; Tuition Reimbursement PlanWorking Conditions:Work is performed in-person in a standard office setting.Shift Details:8 hours, Monday &ndash; Friday.
