<div><p>The 2nd Shift Quality Control Technician serves as a key point of contact for end-of-day specimen reconciliation and quality assurance within the laboratory. This role ensures that all samples are accurately processed, verified, and accounted for prior to laboratory closure. The position requires a high level of independence, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills during the evening shift.</p><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Key Responsibilities</b></h3><ul><li>
Demonstrate proficiency in data entry, specimen processing, and quality control functions, including a full understanding of all job duties and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to accessioning, preparation, and reconciliation.</li><li>
Receive and accession incoming specimens during the closing shift by completing electronic requisitions, printing barcodes, and entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).</li><li>
Validate specimen information, patient demographics, billing details, and test orders for accuracy; report inconsistencies to laboratory leadership.</li><li>
Identify and resolve specimen-related issues, including missing information, complex test-to-specimen relationships, and compliance concerns.</li><li>
Track and monitor quality control metrics, maintain accurate logs, and collaborate with leadership to ensure high-quality specimen processing and data accuracy.</li><li>
Communicate issues that may impact patient results in a timely manner.</li><li>
Facilitate effective communication between laboratory staff and external stakeholders regarding specimen status, test results, and end-of-day discrepancies.</li><li>
Keep leadership informed of inconsistencies or quality concerns and contribute to performance improvements through SOP development, updates, and quality initiatives.</li><li>
Complete required documentation accurately and within established timeframes; maintain LIS databases to support proper specimen processing and reconciliation.</li><li>
Review requisitions and test orders for completeness and accuracy; validate and verify work completed by other staff as needed.</li><li>
Provide training support and assist with shipment preparation to maintain specimen integrity.</li><li>
Demonstrate knowledge of specimen testing requirements and compliance policies, including use of laboratory systems, translation tables, and directories of services.</li><li>
Adhere to all laboratory policies and procedures, including safety standards, confidentiality requirements (HIPAA), OSHA regulations, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).</li><li>
Maintain safe work practices in a biohazard environment.</li><li>
Perform additional duties as assigned, including coverage during staffing shortages and assistance with shipment receipt and delivery.</li></ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>

High School Diploma required</li><li>
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred</li></ul><p>

Strong computer proficiency and organizational skills</li><li>
Working knowledge of laboratory equipment relevant to the role</li><li>
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace</li><li>
Medical background preferred, including knowledge of clinical laboratory terminology</li><li>
