<p>The New York State Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) seeks a detail-oriented and highly organized Legal Secretary to provide comprehensive legal and administrative support to the General Counsel&rsquo;s Office. This position involves preparing legal documents, managing case files, and assisting attorneys with litigation and compliance matters in a fast-paced environment.</p>
<p></p><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Key Responsibilities</b></h3>
<ul><li>Prepare correspondence and case materials for lawsuits in state and federal court.</li>
<li>Assist in preparing case filings by completing required documentation and activities.</li>
<li>Draft legal documents for attorney review.</li>
<li>Prepare subpoenas and arrange for service.</li>
<li>Coordinate filing of legal memoranda and other court papers.</li>
<li>Conduct research into complex legal matters; analyze materials and present findings.</li>
<li>Prepare litigation holds and assist with e-discovery searches and management.</li>
<li>Maintain case files, calendars, and monitor dockets, deadlines, and decisions.</li>
<li>Assist General Counsel, Deputy Counsels, and Associate Counsels with confidential legal matters.</li>
<li>Perform additional duties as assigned by senior legal staff.</li>
</ul><p></p><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Required Qualifications</b></h3>
<ul><li>Strong knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.</li>
<li>Proficiency in <b>Microsoft Office Suite</b> (Word, Excel, Outlook).</li>
<li>Excellent organizational and time-management skills.</li>
<li>Ability to handle confidential information professionally.</li>
<li>Strong verbal and written communication skills.</li>
</ul><p></p><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Preferred Qualifications</b></h3>
<ul><li>Experience supporting attorneys in litigation or government legal operations.</li>
<li>Familiarity with e-discovery tools and case management systems.</li>
