Position Overview
The 3rd Shift Underground Mine Supervisor is responsible for the operational management of the 3rd shift underground high calcium limestone mine crew, including production at the primary and secondary crushing stages, ensuring customer demands are met or exceeded through safe, cost effective, and operationally sound mining activities.
Education and/or Experience<ul><li>
High School Diploma or GED equivalent</li><li>
Five or more years of experience working in an underground mine</li><li>
Pennsylvania underground mine foreman license, required</li><li>
Pennsylvania underground blaster licenses, required</li></ul>
Essential Duties and Responsibilities<ul><li>
Responsible for maintaining the highest standard of safety and quality in all aspects of the job and team. Be familiar with and follow the CRH Life Saving Rules in compliance with regulatory agencies, including but not limited to, ATF, DEP Mine Safety, DEP Air Quality, MSHA.</li><li>
Lead and motivate the mine and crushing personnel.</li><li>
Oversee and coordinate daily production activities for the mine and crushing department.</li></ul><ul><li>
Train and develop new and existing employees in job functions and equipment operation.</li><li>
Implement and lead continuous improvement by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices, and processes.</li><li>
Promote a company culture that has high morale and job performance through motivation, establishing goals and providing feedback.</li><li>
Identify and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions for timely resolution.</li><li>
Initiate plans and processes which minimize costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, materials, and capital while continually adapting to short- and long-term production needs.</li><li>
Ensure open lines of communication with all customers, internal and external, to meet their needs in a satisfactory manner.</li><li>
Dedicate time to succession planning and people growth through coaching and training.</li><li>
Address employee issues and provide resolutions in a timely manner.</li><li>
Identify associated risks and implement appropriate controls.</li><li>
Track, record, and maintain official records of work completed as per Federal and State requirements.</li><li>
Responsible for capital expenditure projects and budgeting.</li><li>
Performs other job-related duties as needed.</li><li>
Travel as necessary.</li></ul> 
Requirements<ul><li>
Must submit to a drug screen and criminal background check.</li><li>
Must have a valid driver&rsquo;s license.</li></ul><ul><li>
Strong leadership and management skills. Individual must exhibit professional ability to deal with others and to create constructive working relationships and an overall positive working environment.</li><li>
Excellent project management and organizational skills; ability to work well under tight deadlines, assist in the resolution of technical problems, and manage ambiguous information effectively.</li><li>
Self-starter and able to take responsibly and initiative upon themselves.</li><li>
Ability to prioritize, schedule, and coordinate multiple activities and delegate activities to the workforce.</li><li>
Must be self-confident; make critical decisions on a timely basis; think outside the box and be proactive vs. reactive.</li><li>
Must communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to internal and external stakeholders.</li><li>
Able to work various times during day, night or weekend hours.</li><li>
May require the ability to climb ladders, lift heavy objects weighing up to fifty pounds, enter confined areas, and be exposed to extreme temperatures and dusty environments.</li></ul>
