Purpose
PerkinElmer is seeking a visionary technical communicator who is passionate about clear communication and creating exceptional customer experiences. You&rsquo;ll revolutionize how customers interact with our product information by integrating modern technology into every step of content creation. Your focus will be on developing intuitive, web-based help content that empowers users to effectively utilize our laboratory instrument systems. This position offers a hybrid work model of 3 days/week in office and 2 days remote, reporting into PerkinElmer&rsquo;s R&amp;D organization based in Shelton, CT USA and Woodbridge, ON Canada.
Location: Hybrid Remote - on site in Shelton, CT USA OR Woodbridge, ON Canada T, W and R and remote M/F. More frequent on-site days per week can happen if workload or projects demand it necessary.
Responsibilities<ul><li>
Design and develop intuitive technical content for web-based, customer-facing help which enables customers to effectively use our portfolio of laboratory instrument systems, applying strong UI/UX design principles.</li><li>
Apply processes for modular, single-sourced content creation, leveraging MadCap Flare authoring environment.</li><li>
Design content based on user learning principles, ensuring information is easily accessible, intuitive, and highly effective for the target audience.</li><li>
Create new, high-quality technical content which targets multiple user personas, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and completeness.</li><li>
Ensure the help product adheres to established brand guidelines, style guides, and internal standards.</li><li>
Leverage user feedback for continuous improvement, leading analytical and iterative content development cycles.</li><li>
Collaborate with global cross-functional teams, ensuring effective communication and coordination directly in step with the product development lifecycle.</li></ul>
Basic Qualifications<ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree required in Technical Communication or a science/engineering related discipline.</li><li>
Demonstrated proficiency in HTML and XML authoring, with a strong understanding of modular content and single-sourcing methodologies.</li><li>
Mid to expert level experience using MadCap Flare and its suite of products.</li><li>
Ability to integrate and optimize the use of AI within technical communication workflows.</li><li>
Strong UI/UX design principles with an emphasis on creating intuitive, engaging, and accessible user experiences.</li><li>
Familiarity with embedding multimedia into web-based help content.</li><li>
Experience implementing meta tags and structured content focused on providing key information to an AI chatbot.</li><li>
Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratively in a global, fast-paced environment.</li><li>
Exceptional time management and organization skills with proficiency managing and tracking projects using Jira.</li><li>
Highly detail oriented with excellent problem solving and communication skills.</li><li>
Native level fluency in written and spoken English.</li></ul>

A strong portfolio showcasing examples of intuitive web-based help content, UI/UX design for documentation, and responsive problem solving through content.</li><li>
Experience working within a scientific or engineering domain, particularly with spectroscopy and chromatography analytical laboratory instrumentation, is highly preferred.</li></ul>
