Lead Veterinary Technician &ndash; Emergency Department 
Night Shift | Full-Time (3x12s including one weekend day shift) | Austin, TX 
 
Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with a hourly pay rate starting at $25 - $28/ hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. 
 
Pet Specialists of Austin (PSA), a Thrive Pet Healthcare partner, is seeking a skilled and motivated Emergency Shift Lead Vet Tech to join our day shift team. This is a great opportunity to grow your leadership in a collaborative, specialty/emergency hospital environment. 
 
About the Role: 
As the Shift Lead, you'll provide high-quality nursing care while guiding and supporting your technician team. You&rsquo;ll help drive shift efficiency, delegate responsibilities, mentor team members, and maintain a smooth workflow throughout emergency cases and procedures. 
 
Key Responsibilities: 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
Deliver Exceptional Emergency Care<ul><li>
Triage, stabilize, and monitor critical patients</li><li>
Assist in surgeries and procedures</li><li>
Administer medications, fluids, and blood transfusions</li><li>
Manage diagnostics including radiology, lab work, and patient records</li></ul> 

Lead the Team<ul><li>
Direct and delegate responsibilities during shifts</li><li>
Ensure smooth workflow and efficiency across the ER floor</li><li>
Coordinate and lead team huddles to keep communication clear and care timely</li></ul> 

Coach and Mentor<ul><li>
Train, guide, and assess veterinary assistants and technicians</li><li>
Create individualized development plans and support growth goals</li><li>
Collaborate with leadership to improve protocols and training programs</li></ul> 

Foster Positive Collaboration<ul><li>
Act as a liaison between DVMs, techs, and hospital leadership</li><li>
Bring a solutions-focused mindset to challenges and coach in the moment</li><li>
Uphold hospital values and reinforce Thrive&rsquo;s policies and procedures</li><li>
Complete other tasks as assigned</li></ul> 
 
What We&rsquo;re Looking For:<ul><li>
5+ years of veterinary technician experience (Emergency/Specialty required)</li><li>
Previous leadership or supervisory experience required</li><li>
Strong communication and mentoring skills</li><li>
Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays</li><li>
Credentialed tech (CVT, LVT, RVT) preferred</li><li>
May be required to work overtime on occasion</li></ul>
