Job Summary: </b>The Assistant Department Manager is responsible for the exceptional execution of guest service by the entire department. S/he is responsible for assisting the department manager in department inventory, margin, labor budgets, pricing integrity, and merchandising standards. S/he will help ensure that all Team Members receive proper training and supervision. S/he will ensure the highest level of execution in regards to ordering, receiving, unloading, storage, rotation, merchandising and building of displays.</p><p><b>

Partner with the department buyer to establish department pricing and signage.</li><li>
Maintain departmental margins.</li><li>
Effectively resolve guest issues.</li><li>
Maintain inventory and order for the department.</li><li>
Model and ensure team members&rsquo; compliance of all relevant store, department, and Company policies and procedures.</li><li>

Education and Certifications</b></p><ul><li>
High School Diploma or equivalency with at least 3-4 years of relevant experience.</li><li>
Demonstrate knowledge of department functions.</li><li>
Proficient computer and math skills.</li><li>
Possesses a current Food Handler Certificate or able to obtain upon employment.</li></ul><p><b>
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</b></p><ul><li>
Must be capable of providing and modeling exceptional customer service.</li><li>
Must have excellent communication skills in order to communicate effectively with customers, store leadership, and fellow-team members.</li><li>
Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in groups.</li></ul><p><b>
Work Environment/ Physical Demands</b></p><ul><li>
Must have the physical ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend, climb, balance, stoop to grasp objects, kneel, crouch, crawl, frequently push/pull up to 100 lbs., frequently lift and/or move loads up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift 75 lbs.</li><li>
Ability to enter the coolers and freezers thereby being subjected to and withstanding frequent temperature changes for extended periods of time.</li><li>
Occasional high stress when dealing with systems/customers/staff.</li><li>
Able to work a flexible schedule with various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as determined by the store/business needs and as required to ensure adequate store staffing.</li><li>
Must have reliable source of transportation.</li><li>

</div></div><p><b>Job Summary:</b> Responsible for assisting the General Manager in managing and directing the efficient operation of the store to maximize sales and profitability. Perform the duties of the General Manager in his/her absence. Knowledgeable with the various department functions. Works with designated Department Managers to coach and assist in training the store staff to learn and understand the nuances of the various products and processes required. Responsible for the monitoring and review of staff job results and store needs with GM. Acts as a role model and exemplifies Petes Four Pillars of Value, Aesthetic, Quality, and Customer Service.</p><p>

<li>Assists the General Manager in managing the department teams by focusing on teaching DMs and associates about sales performance to achieve the levels consistent with corporate objectives.
</li><li>Coordinates and communicates with corporate support teams, such as Buyers &amp; Pricing, GM and Department Managers for proper and efficient store function.</li>
<li>Monitors training emphasizing correct receiving, purchasing and inventory supply, POS procedures and exceptional customer service.
</li><li>Supports, upholds, and enforces all Company policies, and local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
</li><li>Assists in the communication with the GM for management of labor and scheduling to minimize labor expenses, while ensuring adequate store staffing in accordance with the needs of the business.
</li><li>Monitors and recognizes the cause of shrink and works effectively to control losses and help to increase profits.
</li><li>Communicates with Scan Coordinator, DMs and teams to ensure that the correct pricing is maintained and that all shelf tags reflect proper merchandise information and prices.
</li><li>Maintains high standards of store image ensuring that the store is clean, well-stocked, and ready for business.
</li><li>Strives to increase sales through suggestive selling skills/techniques and to consistently improve customer service.
</li><li>Ensures information flows to all team members and advise management of significant events affecting the store.
</li><li>Supervises and coaches direct reports in the performance of their duties; participates in performance reviews and provides feedback.
