 Summary of Job
 
 
 
 The District Attorney's Office (DAO) is seeking a Criminal Investigation Analyst to perform digital forensic examinations on mobile devices, computers, social media, and internet sources, for use in criminal prosecutions in state and federal courts. The Analyst will work directly with prosecutors on firearms-related investigations and prosecutions. Analysts will extract digital evidence from phones, computers, or social media platforms and analyze that data to support the investigation. These positions will be housed at the Philadelphia District Attorney's Gun Violence Task Force. The position will require the Analyst to work on investigations alongside local, state, and federal law enforcement. In addition to the forensic duties, the Analyst will be tasked with criminal intelligence gathering, analysis, and attending meetings with prosecutors and state and federal law enforcement partners.
 
 
 
 Job Responsibilities
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Gathering and processing search warrant returns and presenting data from a variety of social media and internet sources, including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and others, for investigation purposes.
 </li>
 <li>
 Compiling criminal background records and cross-referencing data and intelligence with other criminal intelligence databases.
 </li>
 <li>
 Working with Victim Services Unit staff to follow up with victims and witnesses to collect additional details of investigations.
 </li>
 <li>
 Mapping and analyzing historical call detail records and creating reports for court testimony and charging purposes
 </li>
 <li>
 Working alongside prosecutors and law enforcement partners on investigations into straw purchasing and firearms offenses.
 </li>
 <li>
 Examining and extracting data from cell phones and electronic data sources for all investigations and conducting analysis linking criminal entities and activities.
 </li>
 <li>
 Participating in long-term group violence investigations.
 </li>
 <li>
 Testifying as an expert witness in court hearings, trials, and grand juries.
 </li>
 <li>
 Preparing for testimony by creating presentations on evidence collected and analyzed that require expert testimony in the area of cell phone/social media/linguistic analysis.
 
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 Skills &amp; Qualifications
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Completion of a bachelor&rsquo;s or higher degree program at an accredited college or university with major course work in Digital Forensic Science or a related computer science field.
 </li>
 <li>
 2 years of investigation experience in a law enforcement agency, or a criminal analyst position, may be substituted for the degree requirement.
 </li>
 <li>
 Previous lab experience in a digital forensic lab may be substituted for the degree requirement.
 </li>
 <li>
 Proficiency in troubleshooting digital forensic software and equipment.
 </li>
 <li>
 Proficiency or previous training in cell phone extraction or analysis is a plus, in particular Guardian, Penlink, Cellhawk, Celebrite, or similar software.
 </li>
 <li>
 Familiarity with the Pennsylvania Straw Purchasing Statute.
 </li>
 <li>
 Proficiency with JNET, NCIC, Commander, and other systems is preferred.
 </li>
 <li>
 Intermediate to expert ability with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
 </li>
 <li>
 Candidates must be organized, flexible, and capable of working under pressure.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to work directly with law enforcement officers and prosecutors to build a case is required.
 </li>
 <li>
 Proven critical thinking skills and a willingness to learn.
 </li>
 <li>
 Candidate must be able to take initiative and be self-directed on non-deadline-oriented investigations.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to develop and cultivate effective internal/external working relationships is essential.
 </li>
 <li>
 Understanding of the uniquely sensitive and confidential nature of the professional services provided by the position.
 </li>
 <li>
 Applicant will sign a 3-year commitment as a condition of employment.
