 Summary
 
 
 
 Under the supervision of the Medical Director and/or Program Director, supervises the LPNs and provides medical care and support to patients.
 
 
 
 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
 include the following. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 On Site daily
 </li>
 <li>
 Supervises LPNs
 </li>
 <li>
 Maintains emergency medical kit at each location
 </li>
 <li>
 Develop and implement a plan to have staff and patients, where appropriate, trained in the prescribed in the use of Narcan kit
 </li>
 <li>
 Support patients in the (self) administration of medication
 </li>
 <li>
 Documentation of (self) administration of medication
 </li>
 <li>
 Performs TB and Drug screenings on all patients within 72 hours of admissions
 </li>
 <li>
 Performs routine urine drug screens as directed by the treatment/recovery plan
 </li>
 <li>
 Monitors and records vital signs
 </li>
 <li>
 Provides triage and provides medical services accordingly
 </li>
 <li>
 Performs TB screenings on all patients
 </li>
 <li>
 For patients with health care needs, schedules and coordinates all medical appointments, and provides periodic follow-up
 </li>
 <li>
 Reviews and transcribes medication orders, and monitors medication records for compliance;
 </li>
 <li>
 Observes and records response to treatment/medication and notifies the Medical DIrector, the Director or Nursing, and the Program Director of any such instances
 </li>
 <li>
 Monitors ongoing/chronic medical problems
 </li>
 <li>
 Handles minor needs of patients including attending to minor injuries, administering routine medications
 </li>
 <li>
 Maintains all medical records
 </li>
 <li>
 Performs QA activities
 </li>
 <li>
 EKG
 </li>
 <li>
 Performs accurate and complete audits of medication transported, received, administered, stored or disposed, as trained and assigned, in accordance with Phoenix House medication policies and procedures.
 </li>

 Remains current with all training as directed by Phoenix House

 Required Education

 Graduate from an accredited nursing program

 LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

 Current NYS license
 </li>
 <li>
 Current certification in CPR, Child Abuse and Infection Control
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 Required Experience
 
 
 
 <ul>

 At least three years related experience
 </li>
 <li>
 Qualified by training, education, and experience in providing nursing care for chemically addicted patients and patients withdrawing from alcohol and or drugs
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 WORK ENVIRONMENT
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 This job operates in an indoor medical clinical environment. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. Appropriate gloves required.
