About Position: The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) provides outstanding support to the primary care provider while delivering exceptional care to patients. This position provides clinical care, including check ins, vital signs, electrocardiogram tests (ECG), injections and PPD placements/readings, eye and ear irrigation, Thrombo-Embolic Deterrent (TED) hose and compression socks, specimen processing, procedure assistance, laboratory administrative functions, screening tests, autoclave use and maintenance, and quality controls for Point-of-Care Testing (POCT). While performing POCT, the incumbent completes administrative and clinical tasks to support PHS&rsquo; laboratories. The CMA participates in pre-visit planning and huddles with the interdisciplinary care team. For patients, this role explains procedures, treatments, and medication usage, provides educational materials and follow-up care, and delivers relevant information provided by the medical provider. Additionally, this position may float to other clinical sites at PHS&rsquo; clinics. This position coordinates with other clinical staff, supports and assists teammates and providers in the provision of exceptional care, and is an essential part of Piedmont&rsquo;s healthcare team. Our patient care is delegated under the NC Medical Board and the NC Board of Nursing regulations.

Duties/ Responsibilities -
<ul>
<li>Perform intake with patients to include vital signs, visit information, and other clinical information as indicated.</li>
<li>Perform telephone message taking with patients, document encounters, follow protocols established by clinic leadership, and inform providers.</li>
<li>Administer medications to patients as ordered by providers or by established protocols following the six rights of medication administration.</li>
<li>Assists providers with procedures such as EKG</li>
<li>Administers Injections/ Phlebotomy as needed.</li>
<li>Performs tasks such as set up for clinical procedures, high level disinfection &amp; sterilization or other miscellaneous appropriate tasks within scope of practice.</li>
<li>Addresses needs of patients by completing forms accurately and thoroughly.
</li><li>Performs or assists with documentation of lab results, and collecting data.</li>
<li>Participates in population management with other members of the care team.
</li><li>Reviews provider appointments the day before visit to anticipate patient and provider needs.</li>
<li>Completes vision and hearing.</li>
<li>Phone notes per PHS guideline.</li>
<li>Other clinical and administrative duties as assigned and within scope of practice.
</li></ul>Qualifications -

Education: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting Program (Diploma or Degree);

Experience: 1 to 3 years of healthcare experience in a clinical setting.

Preferred: 1 year of experience providing care for the elderly.

Certification: CMA or RMA Certification; Certified Medical Assistant through American Association of Medical Assistants, Registered Medical Assistant with American Medical Technologists, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant through the National Healthcareer Association, or National Certified Medical Assistant through the National Center for Competency Testing; Maintain CPR certification.

<li>Ability to incorporate constructive feedback and learn on the job</li>
<li>Performs well independently and in team environments.</li>
<li>Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.</li>
<li>Knowledge of patient care, procedures, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for medical assistant practice scope.</li>

Immunizations: Be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations up-to-date prior to beginning employment.

Pay Range: $20.48 - $27.52 (commensurate with years of experience)
