About the Role:

The PitchBook Legal team has a fun, challenging, and dynamic role supporting a rapidly growing company. We work with stakeholders across the organization on a wide variety of commercial and regulatory legal issues. Although we treat our work with the seriousness it deserves, making it fun is a core value at PitchBook, and the legal team attempts to realize that value and maintain a good sense of humor at all times.

PitchBook's Legal Counsel drafts, reviews, and negotiates licenses and other commercial agreements and provides advice and guidance on a variety of other legal matters affecting the worldwide operations of PitchBook. The role requires strong communication and drafting skills, the ability to work well with a diverse range of individuals, understanding that lawyers are in a service role, and sound business acumen. 


Primary Job Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Work with Sales and Product Management personnel to structure, draft, review, analyze, and negotiate complex data licenses commercial partnerships, media agreements, and other outbound commercial contracts related to the products and services PitchBook makes available to its clients in the United States and abroad</li>
<li>Work with PitchBook's internal stakeholders to review and negotiate data licensing, software, consulting, IT, and related contracts with company vendors</li>
<li>Advise on information security, privacy, and related issues, including GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act, and other laws</li>
<li>Provide practical, decisive guidance to business development, business operations, marketing, and finance teams that balances business objectives and legal risk</li>
<li>Advise on industry, commercial, IP, privacy, employment, and other laws, regulations, and developments relating to PitchBook's worldwide business</li>
<li>As needed, work with PitchBook's sister businesses, Morningstar's corporate functions, and external counsel in connection with litigation, real estate matters, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring activities, and other similar projects</li>
<li>Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors</li>
<li>Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested</li></ul> 


Skills and Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Juris doctorate required</li>
<li>At least 2-5 years of experience advising corporate clients either as in house counsel or in private practice</li>
<li>Proven drafting and analytical skills</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and independently, prioritize workflow, meet demanding deadlines, and manage multi-faceted projects in a fast-moving environment</li>
<li>Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite including in-depth knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel with the ability to pick up new systems and software easily</li>
<li>Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future</li></ul>

Our Institutional Research Group is seeking an analyst to join our Fund Strategies team, which covers the breadth of private capital markets across fundraising, performance, and thematic research. The work produced by this team is used by thousands of private capital investors, investment banks, and service providers worldwide. Primary Job Responsibilities:

<li>Contribute to the team's coverage of fundraising and performance trends in private funds, with the ability to write with authority about private capital markets</li>
<li>Establish research frameworks to provide independent commentary, evaluations, and forecasts around our primary coverage areas, while identifying unique themes that may impact private markets</li>
<li>Utilize proprietary PitchBook data and other external sources to inform and develop original research</li>
<li>Write and edit research reports as directed by the team pipeline and publishing calendar</li>
<li>Manage direct-to-client distribution channels for published notes</li>
<li>Work closely with PitchBook Institutional Research Group (PIRG) data analysis team to identify unique datasets to support research</li>
<li>Develop and manage relationships with both client and non-client industry professionals to help support primary research efforts</li>
<li>Manage and respond to inquiries from clients, press, internal colleagues, and the general public regarding published research</li>
<li>Support written research efforts through speaking engagements such as PitchBook webinars and podcasts</li>
<li>Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors</li>
<li>Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested</li></ul> 


Skills and Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or Economics preferred</li>
<li>Progress toward achieving a CFA or CAIA designation a plus</li>
<li>3+ years of experience in investor relations, deal teams, investment consulting, equity research, investment banking, or other related financial services roles, with a preference for someone with exposure to private capital markets</li>
<li>Strong interest in private financial markets. Familiarity with the investment process and the key stakeholders of the private capital landscape (GPs, LPs, fund types)</li>
<li>Thorough understanding of private investment strategies (buyout, VC, private credit), performance and cash flow metrics (IRR, return multiples, time-weighted returns, distributions, NAV, risk-return relationships), and portfolio management (allocations, liquidity, capacity)</li>
<li>Knowledge of the secondaries market and evergreen fund structures is a plus</li>
<li>Experience writing long-form data-driven research and ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-sensitive editorial environment</li>
<li>Critical and analytical thinker</li>
<li>Detail-oriented with an excellence mindset</li>
<li>Superb written and verbal communication skills</li>
<li>Experience in the PitchBook platform and Morningstar Direct is a plus</li>
