Job Title: Publishing SpecialistDepartment: Editorial / Production / Content Operations Reports To: Managing Editor or Production Manager Employment Type: Full-time / Part-TimeJob SummaryThe Publishing Specialist manages the end-to-end production workflow of print and digital publications. This role ensures that content (books, journals, reports, or digital assets) is delivered on time, within budget, and meets quality standards. The ideal candidate possesses deep knowledge of publishing software, file formats (EPUB, PDF, XML), and production processes, while coordinating between authors, editors, designers, and vendors.Key ResponsibilitiesProduction &amp; Workflow Management<ul><li>Oversee the entire production lifecycle from manuscript submission to final file delivery (print &amp; digital).</li><li>Create and manage production schedules; track milestones to ensure on-time publication.</li><li>Coordinate copyediting, proofreading, typesetting, and indexing services (internal or freelance).</li><li>Manage file conversions (InDesign to EPUB, PDF, HTML, XML) and ensure accessibility compliance (WCAG, ADA).</li></ul>Quality Assurance &amp; Standards<ul><li>Perform quality checks on layouts, covers, and digital files for formatting, typography, and consistency.</li><li>Ensure metadata accuracy (ISBN, DOI, keywords, ONIX feeds) for distribution platforms.</li><li>Troubleshoot production errors and implement corrective workflows.</li></ul>Vendor &amp; Stakeholder Coordination<ul><li>Liaise with authors, freelancers, printers, and distributors.</li><li>Obtain and compare print/binding quotes; manage print runs and reprints.</li><li>Serve as the primary point of contact for production-related author queries.</li></ul>Process Improvement<ul><li>Maintain style guides and production checklists.</li><li>Evaluate and recommend new tools (CMS, project management software, automated formatting tools).</li><li>Track production costs and suggest efficiency improvements.</li></ul>QualificationsEducation &amp; Experience<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Publishing, or related field.</li><li>2&ndash;5 years of experience in book, journal, or digital publishing production.</li><li>Proven experience with print-on-demand (POD) and offset printing.</li></ul>Technical Skills<ul><li>Advanced proficiency in: Adobe InDesign, Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Word, and Excel.</li><li>Digital formats: EPUB (reflowable/fixed-layout), PDF/X, HTML, XML (JATS or BITS for journals).</li><li>Publishing tools: Project management software (Asana, Trello, Jira), CMS (WordPress, Drupal), and metadata tools (ONIX Editor).</li><li>Preferred: Knowledge of accessibility standards (EPUB Accessibility 1.0, PDF/UA).</li></ul>Soft Skills<ul><li>Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.</li><li>Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication (author-friendly yet professional).</li><li>Problem-solving mindset and collaborative spirit.</li></ul>نوع الوظيفة: دوام كامل, دوام جزئيالراتب المدفوع: QAR١١٠٬٠٠٠٫٠٠&nbsp;لكل عامعدد الساعات المتوقع: 40 في الأسبوعموقع العمل: بشكل شخصي
