Loan Technician

JOB SUMMARY: 
The Loan Technician’s primary duty is to provide excellent customer service to all CHB clients and visitors in-person, over the phone, or via email through initial contact, greeting, and handoff to a co-worker. The position is assigned to the Production/Apps Processing Department and works closely with other CHB associates both internal and external to the work center. Secondary duties include prepare and send written correspondence, prepare and initially handle Credit Applications and Loan Files, data entry and review, filing, and answer phone/email communications. The skill and ability to work independently and as part of a team are needed in this quick-paced and visible position. Daily work crosses multiple time zones and productivity goals are required. Exceptional communication skills and a commitment to customer service are required.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
a. Review and process incoming Credit Applications and Loan Requests; copy/transcribe data, submit online data requests, upload acquired info, and prepare the initial electronic Loan file
 b. Serve as the primary user/manager of the organizational “Credit” email account; reply to messages
 c. Prepare, print, envelope, and stamp outgoing, written official correspondence
 d. File and access or re-file Loan Folders
 e. Assist daily with mail processing to include packing, shipping, receipt, and internal delivery of items
 f. Maintain an orderly, organized, and professional appearing work center
 g. Assist with end-of-day security procedures when needed/requested
 h. Effectively utilize a computer work station and associated software to include MS applications, LOS, SilverLake, and other front-end automated data processing tools for loans
 i. Perform all other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned
 REQUIREMENTS
 
Minimum Qualifications: 
1. High School diploma or equivalent.
 2. One year full-time work experience filling an administrative or clerical support position in an office team environment; loan or banking areas experience preferred.
 3. Educational background in credit analysis and review, or equivalent obtained through practical experience.
 4. Strong administrative and organizational skills.
 5. Ability to work successfully in a high-demand, fast-paced, pressure-laced environment.
 6. Must be assertive and possess sound decision-making abilities.
 7. Competent keyboarding and computer use skills.
 8. Ability to learn new software and procedures, and grasp new concepts.
 9. Previous software experience/skills in Microsoft applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook).
 10. Effective oral and written communication skills (including telephone).
 11. Self-sufficient/self-starting.
 12. Must be able to produce accurate and timely results while maintaining a professional and positive attitude.
 13. General areas of competency: dependability, personal development, work place safety, evaluation and interpersonal skills, prioritization, problem solving, teamwork, time management.
 14. Demonstrated aptitude to handle sensitive financial transactions and customer relationships.

Physical Requirements:

JOB SUMMARY: 
Develop a consistent, increasing pipeline of residential real estate loans through exceptional customer service and referrals from local Realtors, business professionals, and community leaders. Ensure consistent and efficient handling of loan requests throughout the processing of the loan. Research, resolve problems and respond to customers’ inquiries on account status. Cross sell other bank services and refer customers to other departments / subsidiaries as appropriate. Keep informed of changes in bank services or procedures.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
1. ORIGINATE IN-HOUSE AND SECONDARY MARKET HOME LOANS
 a. Establish referral network with Realtors, business and community leaders.
 b. Advise customers on the details of various in-house and secondary market loan options.
 c. Ensure customer satisfaction through high quality, responsive customer service.
 d. Assist in marketing and advertising of mortgage services.
 e. Submit loans to automated underwriting and monitor findings, as needed.
 1. ORIGINATE AND MANAGE RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION LOANS
 a. Structure construction loans to match customer needs within PVC guidelines.
 b. Monitor draw requests for required documentation including lien waivers.
 c. Inspect property or order outside inspections, if needed prior to funding draw requests.
 d. Compare actual disbursements to the construction budget for potential cost overruns.
 2. MISCELLANEOUS OTHER
 a. Call on prospective customers.
 b. Provide guidance/technical expertise to fellow lenders on secondary market programs.
 c. Other duties as assigned.
 
REQUIREMENTS:Minimum Qualifications: 
1. Post high school education and three years lending experience preferred. Previous sales experience helpful.
 2. At least 2-5 years of lending experience.
 3. Math proficiency and aptitude.
 4. General areas of competency: decision making, dependability, development, environmental safety, evaluation skills, interpersonal skills, prioritizing, problem solving, selling skills, team skills and time management.
 5. Demonstrated record of achievement in social and/or extracurricular and leadership skills.
 6. Demonstrated aptitude to handle sensitive operational transactions and customer relationships.
 7. Professional appearance.
 8. Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
 9. Effective oral and written communication skills (including telephone).
 10. Self-sufficient/self-starting.
 11. Ability to adjust to flexible hours.
 12. Strong interest in and ability to sell products and services.
 13. PC experience helpful and knowledge of mortgage loan origination software and automated underwriting systems preferred.
 14. Deposit Platform experience helpful.
 15. Must be capable of working with and maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information.
