We are a small children&rsquo;s publishing press seeking an energetic and highly creative Editor &amp; Marketing Coordinator to join our team. As a small company that wears many hats, this role spans editorial, marketing, and outreach, ideal for someone excited to take ownership across multiple facets of the publishing process. A passion for the publishing industry is a must.This individual should be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically, InDesign &amp; Photoshop along with other design-focused programs like Canva with an eye toward maintaining the high-quality standards our children&rsquo;s books are known for. We are also placing a strong emphasis on outreach, so comfort with building relationships, identifying new opportunities, and expanding our reach is key.The right candidate, enjoys tackling complex puzzles, and is a clear and effective communicator. They derive energy from creative brainstorming, collaborate well with all types of people, and can confidently own their projects from development through production. This role is best suited for someone who genuinely enjoys thinking outside the box while staying organized and detail-oriented.Job Responsibilities:<ul><li>Editorial</li><li>Read and evaluate manuscript submissions with an eye for titles that fit our catalog</li><li>Work with authors on content, style, and format and provide them with editorial feedback</li><li>Follow new titles through the entire production process; oversee schedules for revisions, illustrations, design, and production</li><li>Collaborate with the editorial team on in-house book development</li><li>Write catalog/cover copy; develop marketing plans for new titles; copy edit all manuscripts with attention to grammar and style choices</li><li>Manage deadlines for our distributor</li><li>Graphic Design/Website Design</li><li>Provide/Create/Brainstorm concepts for art direction, both for book covers and interior illustrations</li><li>Develop relationships with authors, illustrators, and agents to meet deadlines for titles and provide feedback on illustrations</li><li>Keep track of production deadlines to keep new titles on schedule</li><li>Design layout of new titles, catalogs, sell sheets, and other materials</li><li>Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud required</li><li>Update and create new website pages as needed for new title promotion or sales</li><li>Marketing</li><li>Responsible for newsletter emails, developing and sending email outreach for upcoming and new releases, holidays, events, and important sales</li><li>Plan social media content; build relationships with key influencers</li><li>Oversee social media associate; develop schedule for posting, assign content, and provide feedback</li><li>Create and run Facebook ads and seek out advertising opportunities</li><li>Responsible for major holiday sales, including Black Friday and Cyber Monday</li><li>Admin</li><li>1 day a week fulfill orders (pack, ship, label, and invoice), this usually takes a couple hour</li><li>Assist with events, attend conference, do set up and break down</li><li>Oversee interns each semester; assign projects and follow up with feedback and direction</li></ul>Application:Must submit resume and cover letter.Job Type: Full-timePay: $42,000.00 - $45,000.00 per yearBenefits:<ul><li>401(k)</li><li>Employee discount</li><li>Health insurance</li><li>Paid time off</li></ul>Work Location: Hybrid remote in Washington, DC 20002
