 Job Description
 
 
 
 POLITICO is seeking a sharp and energetic editor for our daily and weekly politics and policy newsletters. Our newsletters are a critical part of POLITICO&rsquo;s subscription and consumer platforms, driving the conversation in Washington, key state capitals and Canada on issues such as health care, education, tech, trade and more.
 
 
 The newsletter editor will work as part of a team to manage the evening newsletter editing workload, ensuring editorial excellence, maintaining standards and directly line editing multiple newsletters each night. The role is part of POLITICO&rsquo;s Central Editing Desk, a versatile desk providing editing support for content across newsroom platforms and teams.
 
 
 This editor will work
 
 Sunday through Thursday, 3 to 11 p.m. Eastern.
 
 This is a hybrid role based out of POLITICO&rsquo;s Arlington, Virginia; New York City or Sacramento offices.

 Who You Are

 You're a detail-oriented editor with strong interest in newsletters and the top storylines in politics and policy

 You possess strong news judgment, rigorous commitment to fair-minded, nonpartisan journalism and ability to quickly sharpen copy
 </li>

 You can manage multiple priorities on deadline, communicate clearly with reporters and editors and take ownership of your work within a shared editing workflow
 </li>
 <li>
 You are adaptable, organized and confident navigating digital publishing tools
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 What You&rsquo;ll Do
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Edit daily newsletters across a variety of beats for accuracy and clarity, as well as fact-check and copy edit, ensuring adherence to POLITICO standards and style
 </li>
 <li>
 Manage evening newsletter workload in collaboration with other members of the newsletter editing team and newsroom reporters and editors
 </li>
 <li>
 Support editing needs of any of our newsroom platforms and teams as needed
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 What You&rsquo;ll Need
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 3+ years of relevant journalism experience
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience in digital publishing and content management systems
 </li>
 <li>
 Working knowledge of AP style
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 This position can be based in Arlington, VA, New York, NY or Sacramento, CA. The pay range for this position is $80,000&ndash;$100,000. Final salary will be based on experience and qualifications.

 Job Description
 
 
 
 POLITICO is looking for a social-first video producer who knows how to move fast and make smart, compelling journalism feel native to TikTok and Instagram Reels to join our audio/video team.
 
 
 You&rsquo;ll work closely with the POLITICO video team and reporters across the newsroom to turn the biggest political stories of the day into sharp, scroll-stopping video our for social platforms that reach millions of viewers each month &mdash; from explainers and interviews to smart clip selections pulled from longer-form YouTube shows.
 
 
 
 Who You Are
 
 
 
 <ul>

 A fast, self-sufficient storyteller who can produce, shoot, edit and publish vertical video &mdash; often all in the same day
 </li>
 <li>
 Deeply tuned in to how news travels online, with strong instincts for what makes political coverage scroll-stopping, clear and engaging for social audiences
 </li>
 <li>
 Fluent in the language of the internet and comfortable translating complex political stories into sharp, compelling short-form video.
 </li>
 <li>
 The kind of person who can watch who a Senate hearing and immediately sees the 27-second moment that will take off on TikTok
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 What You&rsquo;ll Do
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Produce end-to-end vertical video for TikTok and Instagram Reels &mdash; from pitch to publish
 </li>
 <li>
 Identify smart, social-native angles on breaking news and enterprise stories
 </li>
 <li>
 Clip and repackage moments from longer-form POLITICO shows into compelling, platform-optimized short videos
 </li>
 <li>
 Shoot interviews and standups as needed (often quickly and scrappily)
 </li>
 <li>
 Write sharp scripts, headlines and social copy that are accurate, clear and platform-aware
 </li>
 <li>
 Publish content and manage workflows to ensure speed without sacrificing quality
 </li>
 <li>
 Experiment with new editing tools, formats and production workflows to make social output faster and stronger
 </li>
 <li>
 Track performance metrics and use them to refine approach and strategy
 </li>
 <li>
 Collaborate with reporters, editors and the broader video team to identify opportunities for social storytelling
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 What You&rsquo;ll Need
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 At least 2 years of experience producing and editing video, ideally for social-first news platform
 </li>
 <li>
 Strong editing skills (Premiere, ideally). You should be comfortable turning around polished vertical video quickly and independently
 </li>
 <li>
 An interest in exploring new social-first publishing and editing workflows
 </li>
 <li>
 A native understanding of TikTok and Instagram &mdash; what hooks viewers, what holds attention and what falls flat
 </li>
 <li>
 Sharp editorial judgment and strong news instincts
 </li>
 <li>
 The ability to simplify complex political or policy stories without oversimplifying them
 </li>
 <li>
 Comfort working on tight deadlines and juggling multiple projects at once
 </li>
 <li>
 Knowledge of politics and policy news. Fluency is a major plus.
