Responsibilities:
<ul><li>The Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) functions as a laboratory professional who assists other laboratory personnel in specimen collection, specimen receiving, specimen processing, laboratory testing, process improvement, and quality initiatives.</li><li>
Ensure specimens are obtained in accordance with laboratory guidelines.</li><li>
Demonstrate proper communication skills to relate pertinent data or information about the patient or laboratory sample to appropriate care provider.</li><li>
Follows proper protocols for specimen packaging and specimen transport.</li><li>
Responsible for patient registration, lab test ordering, specimen receipt, accessioning, processing and specimen distribution according to protocol.</li><li>
Demonstrates proper infection control practices, proper patient identification, performs proper prompt specimen transport.</li><li>
Performs proper drug screen collection and processing, as assigned</li><li>
Monitors phlebotomy draw list and assigns/dispatches phlebotomists to draw specimens as assigned.</li><li>
Courier duties as assigned.</li><li>
Performs laboratory tests in compliance with policies and procedures as assigned.</li><li>
Assists in preparing laboratory equipment for testing.</li></ul>
Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent.</li><li><div>
BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.</div></li></ul><div>
Preferred Job Requirements:</div><ul><li>
Certification from a nationally recognized agency as a phlebotomist.</li><li>
Certification from a nationally recognized agency as a medical lab assistant within 2 years of hire date.</li><li>
Experience working in the clinical setting.</li></ul></div>

Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Optimizes patient care by providing appropriate, safe, and cost effective pharmaceutical care including drug dispensing, IV admixture program, and providing drug information.</li><li>
Works under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy and/or the Pharmacy Operations Manager and will oversee the work of pharmacy technicians, students, and support staff.</li><li>
Interpret orders and transcribe or verify them accurately and efficiently in the pharmacy computer system.</li><li>
Accurately compound and dispense pharmaceuticals.</li><li>
Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies and appropriateness of drug and dose.</li><li>
Provide accurate and timely medication information to healthcare staff and patients.</li><li>
Effectively and proactively interact with medical staff regarding drug therapy issue resolutions.</li><li>
Document all clinical activities and interventions accurately and completely.</li><li>
Sustain the hospital formulary, minimizing non-formulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic interchanges and other approved formulary protocols and/or guardrails.</li><li>
Supervise and assist pharmacy technicians and other support staff effectively.</li><li>
Prioritize work and lead others to comply with facility medication turn-around time policy and procedure and identify areas for improved efficiency.</li><li>
Must serve as preceptor for pharmacy students and/or residents.</li><li>
Support and participate in the goals of the organization&rsquo;s quality improvement, risk management, and patient safety program to include but not limited to National Patient Safety Goals, Core Measures, and HCAHPS medication related initiatives.</li><li>
Maintain appropriate controlled substance records.</li><li>
Make appropriate evidence-based, patient-centered medication recommendations.</li><li>
Participate in the management of medical emergencies as appropriate, including, but not limited to Code Blue.</li><li>
Provide clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners. Suggests appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to medical staff as needed.</li></ul>
Qualifications:

Job Requirements:</div><ul><li>
B.S. or Pharm D. from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy.</li><li>
Active Pharmacist license in good standing with the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy.</li><li>
Other applicable state requirements &ndash; i.e. sterile compounding, etc.</li><li><div>
BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.</div></li><li>
ALS/ACLS certification (within 90 days of hire; ALS/ACLS required for attending Code Blue)</li></ul><div>
Preferred Job Requirements:</div><ul><li>
Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy</li><li>
1 year inpatient hospital pharmacy experience.</li></ul></div>
