SUMMARY

Responsible for creating structural and graphic packaging ideas to assist Sales Representatives in sales promotions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul>
<li>Discuss packaging or display projects with our sales representatives, create and execute designs using Artios CAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D renderings programs all dependent on each project-required needs.</li>
<li>Knowledge of and comfort using Windows/MAC software for all design programs.</li>
<li>Make samples on Kongsberg CAD table or cut samples by hand.</li>
<li>Produce packaging prototypes.</li>
<li>Formulate and communicate ideas for new artwork/structure analyzing customer needs and production feasibility.</li>
<li>Manage projects for the Automobile segment to include but not limited to:</li>
</ul><ul><li><ul><li>Creative designs to meet the end customer needs.</li>
<li>Be the primary point of contact as it relates to projects and designs from development, to costing, to production for the segment.</li>
<li>Interface with other departments concerning the development, design, manufacturing and assembly of our packaging offering.</li>
<li>Interface with Segment Lead Designer to develop the needed skills to become self-sufficient in the creation to implementation of all projects for the segment.</li>
</ul></li></ul><ul><li>Have knowledge of various printing equipment and printing processes.</li>
<li>Assist tooling coordinator (or Purchasing Manager) to ensure tooling is ordered properly and master print card/CAD specs are provided in a timely fashion.</li>
<li>Handle various art-related projects for inter company management.</li>
<li>Record keeping and filing of specifications.</li>
<li>Meet time schedules on projects with possible overtime involved.</li>
<li>Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.</li>
<li>Additional duties may be assigned by Sales Manager</li>
</ul>
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
<ul>
<li>College education or heavy college coursework in the field of computers, CAD, graphics, and drafting, or applicable work experience.</li>
<li>Good communicator with customers and sales staff.</li>
</ul>
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
<ul>
<li>Knowledge of Artios CAD, Kongsberg CAD Table, or similar tools.</li>
<li>Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Programs, Studio or similar programs.</li>
<li>Experience with Windows, MAC and Microsoft Office programs.</li>
<li>Drafting education or experience.</li>
</ul>
LANGUAGE SKILLS

Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 
Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

The individual must have a working knowledge of the following:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical

parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Lift and move corrugated sheets as necessary. Lift and move cutting and printing dies as necessary.

The performance of the employee will be measured as follows:

Operating standards - the employee will need to meet or exceed the Operating Standards in the areas of quality, cost, safety, customer satisfaction and productivity. Such standards will be set annually and communicated to the employee.

Packaging Designer

<div>Summary:
Sets up and operate machine to print designs, cut and score on cardboard to create containers by performing the following duties. 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
 
 
Accurately and efficiently sets up and operates machine by selecting and fastening printing plate on machine, filling ink pails with required colors, adjusting rate of flow of ink and spacing guides and checking glue station. 
 
Ensures diagonal and corrugator scores are deep enough for folding to work correctly. 
 
Maximizes utilization of machine by operating at available capacity and speed while minimizing waste of sheet stock, inks and glue. 
 
Checks containers to verify quality by examining for miss-slotted containers, loose liner, misprints or any other defects. 
 
Responsible for training and assisting machine helper with job duties on machine by switching duties as needed to provide such training. 
 
Trains on other machines in order to provide back-up support when needed and must be willing to move to another machine or another shift depending on needs of the Company. 
 
Completes necessary reports in a neat, accurate and timely manner which may include but are not limited to: Production, Safety and Quality Data, Machine Operational Status and Maintenance Work Orders on Cutting/Dies and Printing Plates. 
 
Maintains equipment proactively, turns in maintenance work orders for repairs to Supervisor in a timely manner and follows up that repairs have been made. 
 
Adheres to daily production schedule, reports any unusual scheduling issues to Supervisor and makes recommendations for optimizing schedules to meet cost, quality, delivery and customer service goals. 
 
Complies with all company policies and procedures including safety and good housekeeping. 
 
Follows corporate Quality, Sanitation, GMP and HACCP standards to achieve a finished product within quality control specifications. 
 
Additional duties as assigned by management.

High School diploma or GED equivalent
Min. two years experience in (printing and die cutting) in the corrugated industry.

Mathematical skills, able to read a tape measure (1/16th)

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
 
 
Reasoning Ability
