Goal: To prepare and serve healthy snacks and meals to students and staff while managing food orders and costs to meet budget and minimize waste.Qualifications:<ul><li>Must meet basic requirements of local child care regulatory agency, including ability to pass background check</li><li>Previous experience in catering or professional cooking in a childcare center, senior living, or restaurant preferred</li><li>Food manager certification preferred, if not, ability to obtain food manager certification</li></ul>Skillsets:<ul><li>Coachable and able to coach</li><li>Competent and confident</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li><li>High integrity</li><li>Good listening and follow-up skills</li><li>Ability to provide constructive feedback and advice</li><li>Able to work with others harmoniously</li><li>High coping capabilities</li><li>Solution and detail-oriented</li><li>Strong classroom management and organizational skills</li></ul>Essential Job Functions:<ul><li>Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with the handling food orders and food preparation and of children for potential emergency situations.</li><li>Prepare weekly menus following Primrose-approved menu choices.</li><li>Complete food order in a timely fashion, managing budget, food waste, and storage.</li><li>Order paper goods for the school, including plates, utensils, toilet paper and paper towels.</li><li>Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.</li><li>Implement safe storage of food products, including labeling.</li><li>Respond quickly to emergencies or safety issues involving children or coworkers.</li><li>Follow health and safety guidelines, including sanitation and hygiene practices.</li><li>Collaborate with other staff members and administrators to ensure the well-being of children.</li><li>Prepare safe and nutritious alternative meal and snack options for children with dietary restrictions and allergies.</li><li>Meet basic requirements of child licensing and other regulatory agencies.</li></ul>Responsibilities<ul><li>Responsible for the overall food service at the school, including preparing and serving breakfast, snacks and lunch.</li><li>Prepare meals and snacks for school special events as needed.</li><li>Wash dishes and maintain a clean kitchen daily.</li><li>Oversee overall kitchen function.</li><li>Prepare menu weekly using Primrose-approved menu options and considering individual needs of the students at the school, including dietary restrictions and allergies.</li><li>Prepare and submit food order on time.</li><li>Observe all rules and regulations at Primrose School of Aliana and the local, state or national regulatory agencies and health department pertaining to the health, safety and care of children.</li><li>Attend all required staff meetings, workshops and/or school functions.</li><li>Maintain overall professional personal appearance adhering to the guidelines offered in the Primrose School of Aliana Employee Handbook.</li><li>Assist in other capacities that Director, or designee, determines is necessary.</li></ul>Reports to: Director or designeeNon-ExemptJob Type: Full-timePay: $12.00 - $17.00 per hourBenefits:<ul><li>Dental insurance</li><li>Employee discount</li><li>Health insurance</li><li>Paid time off</li><li>Retirement plan</li><li>Vision insurance</li></ul>Application Question(s):<ul><li>Do you have experience in catering or professional cooking in a childcare or senior living center?</li></ul>Experience:<ul><li>cooking in childcare setting: 1 year (Required)</li></ul>License/Certification:<ul><li>Food Management Certification (Preferred)</li><li>Food Handler Certification (Preferred)</li></ul>Work Location: In person
