Role Overview

Priority Wire &amp; Cable has an immediate need for a Sr. Software Engineer based at our Little Rock headquarters. You will work both independently and with leadership to deliver high&#8209;impact software projects&mdash;helping establish project scope and expectations, participating in code reviews, and managing support requests for supported applications. You operate with minimal supervision, handle complex problems, and escalate only the most complex issues. You bring deep subject&#8209;matter expertise, provide coaching/mentoring, and may act as a team lead or first&#8209;level supervisor.

The ideal candidate has 4&ndash;7+ years of professional programming experience (PHP, C#, or Java), with a strong emphasis on PHP and Laravel, and is comfortable supporting production systems and assisting end users across both local and remote offices.

What You&rsquo;ll Do
<ul><li> Design &amp; build applications: Develop, implement, and support web, console, and REST API applications using PHP (Laravel &amp; Symfony), Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, JavaScript, and CSS.</li></ul>
<ul><li> Own the SDLC: Drive all phases of the software development lifecycle&mdash;requirements gathering, solution/design, database changes, unit testing, deployment, user support, and ongoing maintenance.</li></ul>
<ul><li> Code quality &amp; reviews: Participate in and help raise the bar on code reviews; contribute to team coding standards and best practices.</li></ul>
<ul><li> Production support: Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in production; manage support tickets related to supported applications and provide local/remote assistance to other offices.</li></ul>
<ul><li> Data &amp; integrations: Write ETL jobs, complex SQL queries, views, and stored procedures; integrate with internal/external systems including ERP/CRM/CMS platforms.</li></ul>
<ul><li> Infrastructure &amp; delivery: Work with Apache/Nginx, IIS, Linux, and Linux containers; contribute to CI/CD pipelines and use Git for version control.</li></ul>
<ul><li> Reporting &amp; workflow: Build and support reporting solutions (including Power BI) and collaborate on workflow/document imaging platforms (e.g., DocuWare).</li></ul>
<ul><li> Collaboration &amp; leadership: Communicate clearly with technical and non&#8209;technical stakeholders (including senior management); mentor and train less experienced team members.</li></ul> 


What You Bring (Demonstrated Skills)
<ul><li> Strong experience with PHP, especially the Laravel framework.</li></ul>
<ul><li> Proficiency in writing ETL processes and complex SQL (queries, views, stored procedures); performance tuning and indexing.</li></ul>
<ul><li> Excellent written and verbal communication and documentation skills.</li></ul>
<ul><li> Strong problem&#8209;solving abilities; adept at troubleshooting intermediate/complex software issues.</li></ul>
<ul><li> Highly organized, self&#8209;directed, and efficient; able to prioritize independently under minimal supervision.</li></ul>
<ul><li> Experience mentoring teammates and setting technical standards for a team.</li></ul>
<ul><li> Hands&#8209;on with Apache/Nginx, Linux, Linux containers, and IIS.</li></ul>
<ul><li> Familiarity with Linux process/job management.</li></ul>
<ul><li> Experience with CI/CD practices and tooling; Git for versioning and source code management.</li></ul>
<ul><li> Experience with workflow or document imaging solutions (e.g., DocuWare).</li></ul>
<ul><li> Experience integrating with ERP/CRM/CMS systems.</li></ul>
<ul><li> Reporting experience and competency with Power BI.</li></ul>
<ul><li> Experience building and consuming REST APIs.</li></ul> 


Minimum Qualifications
<ul><li> Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.</li></ul>
<ul><li> 4&ndash;7+ years of professional object-oriented programming experience with popular frameworks in PHP, C#, or Java.</li></ul>
<ul><li> Advanced SQL skills: writing and optimizing queries, designing complex schemas, planning data architecture, and making strategic data&#8209;management decisions.</li></ul> 


Preferred Qualifications
<ul><li> Exposure to PHP/Laravel in professional setting working on a project with high complexity.</li></ul>
<ul><li> 1+ year of hands&#8209;on experience with modern PHP frameworks (Laravel preferred).</li></ul>
<ul><li> Prior Wire &amp; Cable industry experience is a plus.</li></ul>
<ul><li> Experience with a variety of ERP/CRM platforms and integrating with them.</li></ul>
