Job Overview:

This position provides experienced legal secretary services to litigation attorneys in the Financial Crimes Division&rsquo;s Child Support Unit in the Department of Attorney General.

Responsibilities and Duties:

This position requires considerable knowledge and expertise to proficiently prepare and finalize legal pleadings for filing with the various state and federal courts. This position also performs a wide variety of other legal secretarial duties, including coordinating attorney schedules for attendance at court hearings for a high-volume caseload, and communicating efficiently and courteously with defense attorneys, victims, and witnesses on the phone and via email.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education 
 Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.

Experience 
 Legal Secretary 7 
 Two years of administrative support experience where use of a personal computer to prepare correspondence, reports, charts, etc., or to enter/retrieve/update information is an essential part of the work, including one year equivalent to 6-level administrative support experience.

Legal Secretary E8 
 Three years of administrative support experience where use of a personal computer to prepare correspondence, reports, charts, etc., or to enter/retrieve/update information is an essential part of the work, including one year involving legal secretarial practices equivalent to a Legal Secretary 7.

Legal Secretary 9 
 Four years of office experience involving administrative support practices, including two years involving legal secretarial practices equivalent to a Legal Secretary 7 or one year equivalent to a Legal SecretaryE8.

Crawford County &ndash; Assistant Prosecutor Position Crawford County is accepting applications and resumes for an Assistant Prosecutor within the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney. Under the supervision of the Prosecuting Attorney, the Assistant Prosecuting Attorney will be responsible for handling primarily the juvenile delinquent, misdemeanor, civil, contested personal protection order files; and assisting with the overflow of cases in the office, including district and circuit court matters in a semi-paperless office environment.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Working knowledge of computers, internet, telephone, fax machine, copy machine, scanners, and other general office equipment. Good communication skills with public and staff members. Be able to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Applicant will be required to negotiate cases to reach a plea agreement, prepare legal motions, answers defense motions, prepare search warrants, and advise law enforcement on legal issues, as well as prepare witnesses for trial and try cases before a judge or jury. Identify victims and work with Victim advocates to provide victim rights services.

Minimum Qualifications:

No previous prosecution experience is necessary, but any criminal law experience should be noted in the application 
 Graduate of an accredited law school, licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan, or pending bar results.

General Summary
