<h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Position Purpose</b></h3>
<p>
Join our innovative team as an Electrical Engineering Project Designer focused on creating sustainable built environments. In this role, you'll design electrical, lighting, and fire-alarm systems with an emphasis on sustainable solutions. You'll conduct surveys of existing systems, perform energy calculations, and analyze long-term sustainability for building upgrades. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on New York City's sustainability goals while developing your expertise in electrical engineering design.</p>
<h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Role Responsibilities</b></h3>
<ul><li>Design power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, grounding with respect to buildings and infrastructure projects. Design of Circuity for power/lighting devices.</li>
<li>Conduct short circuit, overcurrent coordination, load and arc flash studies</li>
<li>Perform lighting photometric calculations and lighting surveys of existing buildings</li>
<li>Become well versed in communicating the nuances of New York City's various laws, building codes, and legislation that require existing buildings to electrify fossil-fuel based systems and upgrade lighting control systems to reduce building energy consumption and greenhouse gases</li>
<li>Assist with preparing summary documentation (photo reports, site markups, verbal communication)</li>
<li>Draft schematic and detailed construction documents of various electrical, lighting, and fire-alarm projects in both AutoCAD and Revit</li>
</ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Position Requirements</b></h3>
<ul><li>Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or applicable work experience</li>
<li>0-3 years of electrical engineering of buildings and/or design in support of various existing building projects and initiatives. Understanding of processes, compliance, and other design consulting and construction professionals</li>
<li>The ability to prioritize effectively, balance assigned work and exceptional organization skills required for our constantly evolving environment</li>
<li>Working knowledge of electrical power systems design, control systems, circuitry, and electric machines</li>
<li>Prior internship experience in a consulting firm with emphasis on buildings electrical power system design preferred</li>
<li>The position is based in Manhattan, NY and will involve moderate travel mainly throughout the five boroughs. Job requires the ability to navigate urban, rural, and industrial sites. Must have a valid driver's and safe driving record</li>
<li>Ability to walk fire escapes, stairwells, multiple stairs, and various basement areas. Must also be able to sit for extended periods of time in front of a computer terminal, proficiently operating a computer keyboard while looking at the screen, and operating general office equipment</li>
<li>Office is a temperature controlled, smoke free environment</li>
<li>Field Inspection performed in outdoor temperature extremes for brief periods of time, but mostly indoors</li>

In this role, you'll conduct comprehensive surveys of existing mechanical systems, perform energy calculations, and develop long-term sustainability analyses for building upgrades. You'll review contractor work, prepare documentation, and create digital designs that contribute to New York City's zero-carbon future.</p>

Role Responsibilities:</b></h2>
<ul><li>Design cutting-edge HVAC, plumbing, and fire-protection distribution systems that prioritize sustainability and efficiency</li>
<li>Conduct thorough walkthroughs and surveys of existing buildings, documenting all components that impact energy consumption through measurements, photos, and equipment inventory</li>
<li>Perform energy modeling calculations using both basic hand/Excel methods and sophisticated computer simulations to demonstrate energy savings of various construction solutions</li>
<li>Develop expertise in New York City's building codes, laws, and legislation related to energy reduction and the transition to a zero-carbon, all-electric future</li>
<li>Create comprehensive summary documentation including photo reports, site markups, and clear verbal communications</li>
<li>Produce precise digital drafting of schematic and detailed construction documents using both AutoCAD and Revit for various mechanical, plumbing, and fire-protection projects</li>

<li>Working knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer calculations, building load/energy modeling, and energy conservation principles</li>
<li>Prior internship experience in a mechanical engineering design consulting firm preferred</li>
<li>Ability to travel throughout the five boroughs of New York City; valid driver's license and safe driving record required</li>
<li>Physical capability to navigate urban, rural, and industrial sites, including walking fire escapes, stairwells, and basement areas</li>
