 &nbsp;Data Engineer

 About the role:
 
 
 
 
 
 
 Data Engineers
 
 on our Distributed Systems team are focused on building data platforms that make it easy for different types of user personas to access data from a central control plane. This includes building backend services, connecting OSS projects in a repeatable and performant way, and extending feature sets. Experience involving data engineering and all things data. Utilizing new tools like DuckDB, Apache Pinot, Apache Superset, and others. As the Staff Data Engineer you will be working closely with Technical SMEs on the government stakeholders to build, configure, and deploy the next generation of data platform for mission-critical needs.
 
 
 
 
 
 Required Qualifications:&nbsp;
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 
 2+ years of backend development experience with at least one language like Java, Go, or Python
 
 </li>
 <li>
 
 Basic understanding of or exposure to data streaming concepts (Kafka experience preferred but not required)
 
 </li>
 <li>
 
 Willingness to learn about government datasets and data transformation processes
 
 </li>
 <li>
 
 Strong problem-solving skills and ability to break down complex problems into smaller tasks
 
 </li>
 <li>
 
 Interest in staying current with data engineering trends and technologies
 
 </li>
 <li>
 
 Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
 
 </li>
 <li>
 
 Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 
 
 Highly preferred:
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 
 Internship or coursework experience with data processing or ETL concepts
 
 </li>
 <li>
 
 Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
 
 </li>
 <li>
 
 Past use of SQL skills and understanding of database concepts
 
 </li>
 <li>
 
 Experience with version control (Git) and basic DevOps practices
 
 </li>
 <li>
 
 Previous internship or project work involving data analysis or engineering
 
 </li>
 <li>
 
 Interest in or exposure to open source technologies
 
 </li>
 </ul>

 Salary Range
