Description: Full-Time Associate AttorneyLocation: Work in the Houston office, hybrid model, and at client locations located in the Houston area.Essential Functions:&middot; Advising and providing solutions and legal advice to municipal clients.&middot; Legal drafting orders, ordinances, resolutions, policies, and procedures.&middot; Legal drafting and reviewing contracts, leases, easements, and deeds.&middot; Legal research state and federal law, including statutes, administrative regulations, attorney general opinions, case law, and preparing legal memoranda.&middot; Advocating clients&rsquo; interest in court and before administrative bodies.Areas of Practice: Municipal Law including economic development, elections &amp; voting rights, ethics &amp; professionalism, land use &amp; development, law enforcement &amp; municipal court; legislative consulting &amp; advocacy, open meetings &amp; open records, personnel &amp; employment matters, procurement &amp; construction projects, real estate transactions, utilities &amp; telecommunications; water, wastewater &amp; the environment.Requirements:&middot; Graduated from Texas Law School and licensed in Texas in good standing&middot; At least 3-5 years practicing law in Texas&middot; Some experience as a civil litigator in Texas, with a working knowledge of Texas Rules of Civil Procedure&middot; Strong research and writing skills&middot; Exceptional oral communication skills, including ability to speak effectively in small groups, before large audiences at public meetings, and in the courtroom.Preferences:&middot; Independent and self-motivating, willing to quickly learn Municipal Law.&middot; Organized, dependable and steady.&middot; Capable of transitioning between numerous clients on multiple subjects daily.&middot; Innovative, creative, and resourceful problem-solver.&middot; Excellent communicator (oral and written)&middot; Adept at billing attorney time with the ability to generate billable hoursDocumentation: Current Texas Driver&rsquo;s License with acceptable driving record, and the ability to drive long distances.Compensation: Depends on qualifications and experience. Associates producing stellar work product and meeting billable hour requirements will be eligible for generous quarterly bonuses. This is a professional position and is exempt from eligibility for overtime under the FLSA.Hours: Associates are required to attend client meetings on certain evenings (e.g. city council, planning &amp; zoning, board of adjustment, charter review commission, etc.).
