ABOUT THE ROLE 
Red Carrot is seeking Technical Writer-Editors to research, draft, and edit a wide range of materials for the customer's research and technology program, including magazine features, technical reports, and system documentation. This role bridges technical subject matter experts and diverse audiences. 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES<ul><li>
Research and write original content for magazines, newsletters, user manuals, and research documents</li><li>
Collaborate with engineers, researchers, and technical staff to translate complex concepts into clear narratives</li><li>
Provide substantive editing across all production stages, correcting grammar, spelling, and format errors</li><li>

Senior Technical Editor

OVERVIEW 
Red Carrot is seeking a Producer / Video Editor to join a team supporting our federal government client. The Producer / Video Editor will lead all stages of video production, from pre-production planning and filming to editing and final delivery. They will collaborate with clients and team members to develop creative concepts, operate cameras, and ensure high-quality video content. The role also involves managing video editing, troubleshooting technical issues, and contributing to content strategy while maintaining production equipment and providing project reports. 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 
Video Production<ul><li>
Lead the production of video content, including pre-production planning, scriptwriting, storyboarding, and directing.</li><li>
Collaborate with clients, team members, and stakeholders to develop video concepts that meet project objectives.</li><li>
Manage the filming process, including setting up equipment, directing on-camera talent, and ensuring that all shots meet the required standards.</li><li>
Operate and manage FX3, A7IV, and A6600 mirrorless cameras effectively to capture high-quality video footage.</li></ul>
Video Editing<ul><li>
Edit raw footage into polished final products, including cutting, color grading, sound design, and adding graphics and effects.</li><li>
Work closely with the creative team to ensure that edits meet the desired look and feel of the project.</li><li>
Ensure all videos are delivered in the correct format and meet technical specifications for broadcast or online distribution.</li></ul>
Photography<ul><li>
Perform light photography duties as needed, capturing still images that complement video content.</li><li>
Edit and process photos to meet project requirements, ensuring they align with the overall visual style of the organization.</li></ul>
Technical Operations<ul><li>
Operate and maintain video production equipment, including cameras, lighting, and editing software.</li><li>
Troubleshoot technical issues as they arise during the production and post-production process.</li><li>
Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in video production and editing.</li><li>
Manage inventory control, ensuring all equipment is accounted for and in proper working condition.</li><li>
Oversee the check-out and check-in process for all production equipment, maintaining accurate records and ensuring equipment is returned on time and in good condition.</li></ul>
Content Strategy<ul><li>

Assist in planning and creating content for various platforms, including television, online, and social media.</li></ul>

QUALIFICATIONS 
Experience<ul><li>
3+ years of experience in video production and editing, preferably in a broadcast or similar environment.</li><li>
Proven track record of managing video projects from concept through completion.</li><li>
Experience with the FX3 camera, light photography duties, and inventory management is highly desirable.</li></ul>
Technical Skills<ul><li>
Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar.</li><li>
Strong understanding of video production equipment, including cameras, lighting, and audio gear.</li><li>
Experience with motion graphics and visual effects software (e.g., After Effects) is a plus.</li></ul>
