As a Supplier Development Engineer (Machining/Sheet Metal) at Reliable Robotics, you&rsquo;ll play a critical role in developing and continuously improving all aspects of our mechanical supplier engineering processes to meet design, regulatory, and business requirements (including safety, quality, cost, and on-time delivery). This is a growing team of highly motivated people passionate about delivering quality products and services on time, with unquestionable value. You will be responsible for sourcing, qualifying, and troubleshooting all machining and sheet metal products, conducting design for excellence (DFx) reviews, and developing the processes and infrastructure to help the business scale. The projects you work on will set the foundation for how the business operates for years to come. <h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Responsibilities
</b></h3><ul><li>Develop and manage supplier relationships to ensure they meet or exceed manufacturing, testing, inspection, quality, performance, and reliability requirements</li><li>
Develop design for excellence (DFx) processes, and conduct reviews to evaluate designs for cost, producibility, inspectability, consistency, adequacy, accuracy, and conformance to requirements</li><li>
Develop supplier qualification processes and conduct regular reviews</li><li>
Collaborate with design, quality, and certification teams to embed producibility/manufacturability, compliance, and risk mitigation in all phases of product development (e.g., prototype, R&amp;D, certification, and production)</li><li>
Develop quality control plans and inspection infrastructure, including dimensional inspection and functional testing</li><li>
Develop and ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, quality management systems, and engineering change orders</li><li>
Develop processes to ensure accurate, current, and complete documentation (work instructions, inspections, tests, records, etc.) is utilized and maintained</li><li>
Lead root-cause analysis and implement timely corrective actions to maintain schedule, quality, and reliability</li></ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Basic Success Criteria
</b></h3><ul><li>Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace engineering, or a related field of study</li><li>
5+ years of manufacturing, design, and/or testing experience</li><li>
2+ years of experience with computer-aided design (CAD) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software, such as NX and Teamcenter</li><li>
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&amp;T) experience</li><li>
Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) experience</li></ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Preferred Success Criteria
</b></h3><ul><li>Experience with CNC machinery (lathe, mill, waterjet, laser cutter, EDM)</li><li>
Precision sheet-metal or plastic molding tooling design experience</li><li>
Experience with industry or regulatory requirements such as AS9100, CFR 14 CFR 21.137, and/or 14 CFR Part 145</li><li>
Research and Development (R&amp;D) or New Product Introduction (NPI) experience</li><li>
Previous leadership or management experience</li><li>
Prior experience in troubleshooting, repairing, setting up, and operating complex hardware in a safety-critical environment</li></ul><div></div><div><br>

The estimated salary range for this position is $132,000 to $200,000. At Reliable Robotics, we strive to provide competitive and rewarding compensation based on experience and expertise, as well as market conditions, location, and pay equity.</div><div></div><div><br>

As a Mechanical Engineer at Reliable Robotics, you will be part of the Mechanical Engineering team. This is a small team of highly motivated people designing, testing, and flying advanced mechanical systems. We enjoy cradle-to-grave hardware ownership and hands-on build, test, and integration of our designs. The hardware focus is on high reliability safety critical mechanisms and structures, with significant cross-functional development with the Systems, Avionics, GNC, Software, Manufacturing, and Flight Test teams. The position will be located at our facility in Mountain View, California, reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.</div>

Design, analyze, build, test, and fly a system of actuators, mechanisms, and structural modifications to enable remote piloted aircraft</li><li>
Work with a team of top performing mechanical engineers alongside the greater Reliable team of outstanding Electrical, Systems, Software, GNC, Manufacturing, and Flight Test engineers</li><li>
Own your hardware from concept through flight test and certification . . . this is cradle-to-grave engineering with hands-on build, test, and integration</li><li>

The estimated salary range for this position is $118,000 to $170,000/annual salary + cash and stock option awards + benefits.
