Job Summary
The Technical Lead, HPC (High Performance Computing) &amp; AI is a senior member of the team responsible for the design and implementation of HPC and AI systems. The Technical Lead also develops and aids in the development of tools and in support of the HPC and AI ecosystems. This position also leads and manages projects for cross-functional teams.
Minimum Qualifications
<ul><li>Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field</li>
<li>8 or more years in of professional experience, including but not limited to:
<ul><li>Development/design and maintenance of enterprise-wide systems and services</li>
<li>Experience working with SLURM or other batch schedulers</li>
<li>Experience with High Performance Computing systems, GPU computing, parallel file systems such as GPFS or Lustre</li>

<ul><li>Helps clients fully leverage complex IT capabilities at Rensselaer. Promote use of applications/software, services or systems to clients. Helps clients understand value proposition and potential impacts on workflows and processes. Manage and lead tasks related to applications/software, services and/or systems for the Institute including architecture design, deployment, troubleshooting, analysis, and upgrade management. Lead efforts to gather, analyze and interpret business data including design and development of custom reports.</li>
<li>Guides clients in the process for specification, design, modification and implementation of highly complex IT applications, software, services, systems or equipment as they relate to business processes and changing business needs. Help forecast changes based on changing business needs and industry trends. Maintain relationships with vendors to understand product capabilities and identify solutions. Work with Procurement to understand strategies and processes.</li>
<li>Deploys complex applications/software, services and/or systems using standard or custom tools. Development of deployment methods and strategies</li>
<li>Help develop new standards and improvements to drive customer satisfaction. Develops and provides highly specialized client training and materials, taking into consideration the unique RPI environment. As the lead technical person for specific software, service or business units, responsible for helping manage problem and incident tickets assigned to this area by ensuring SLAs are met, and tickets are completed or escalated/reassigned according to standards.</li>
<li>Analyze impact of changes to applications/software, services and/or systems to mitigate disruption on business. Provide configuration, management and maintenance to meet client needs. Ensure confidentiality and compliance with security requirements and standards.</li>
<li>Provide technical guidance to students and other staff members. Assist faculty in the design, development and effective use of key software tools.</li>
<li>Stay abreast of the latest technologies and software including review, testing, professional development and identification of potential issues or conflicts on horizon. Maintain extensive understanding of industry trends. Provide mentoring and guidance to other analysts.</li>
<li>Acts as liaison between clients, technical and management personnel as well as vendor supported technicians.</li>

Technical Lead, HPC & AI

<div>Job Summary:
 The Sr. Proposal Administrator is responsible for review and submission of outgoing proposals The Proposal Administrator, Sr. reviews and assists in creation of applicable proposal budgets and other aspects of proposals in alignment with sponsor and solicitation guidelines and provides feedback to the research community (faculty, business administrators, and research personnel) as applicable on required corrections or policies and proecdures for proposal review and submission. The Proposal Administrator, Sr. also reviews proposals for compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations, monitoring proposals for risks and escalating deviations to Associate Director (who works with Finance leadership as appropriate), The Proposal Administrator, Sr. serves as an authorized official on behalf of RPI to represent and certify on behalf of the university to the accuracy of proposal content, as well as other matters as required by sponsors. The Proposal Administrator, Sr. assists with developing and delivering training for the research community, as well as the maintenance of business process documentation and tools for proposal submission at RPI. Submission includes reviewing final budgets for high risk areas such as level of effort, use of subcontracts, cost sharing, and correct application of F&amp;A rates in alignment with RPI&rsquo;s approved agreement. Serve as authoried institutional official for proposal submissions.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Maintain Rensselaer proposal budget template for use, including correcting and updating formulas, and developing an in-depth understanding of the tool&rsquo;s features as they relate to proration of tuition and faculty/staff/student time, calculation of cost share, and others.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Navigate multiple sponsor systems (e.g., grants.gov, research.gov, EERE Exchange, NASA NSPIRES) and forms (e.g., SF424, various FDP forms, DOE/DOD budget workbooks by gov&rsquo;t fiscal year/task, etc.) and Q/A such forms for compliance with RPI and sponsor rules. Serve as SME for campus and lead training efforts for campus business managers on divisional/departmental pre-award research administration.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Become a campus resource for RPI systems (e.g., Cayuse, Banner) and tools (e.g., checklists, templates, forms, etc), viewed as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), to faculty and the business community. Participate as a leader in hands-on training of campus users for RPI specific business processes and policies related to proporsal review and submission.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Review policies and procedures to identify areas for potential streamlining and provide recommendations to supervisor.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Serve as a campus resource, viewed as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), to faculty and the business community for proposal related questions for a complex mix of Federal grant and contract solicitations (NIH, NSF, DoD, DOE, and others), State, foundation, and industry-funded proposals. Provide interpretation of federal agency announcements and proposal guidelines; assist the research community with completion of agency specific forms, and navigating agency specific portals to submit proposals.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Ensure that RPI Cost Share proposed is approved and documented prior to proposal submission. In cases where an exception is warranted, document approval from Assistant Vice President of RAF.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Notify Operations Specialist within 48 hours of proposal submission to ensure timely data entry for proposal metrics. Track and enter all proposal submission information into Cayuse and other trackers as required.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Review and validate subcontract documentation (i.e., SOW, Budget, AOR Approval, etc.) for inclusion with RPI proposals at time of submission.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Assist with costing and just-in-time-processes in order to respond to sponsors who request revised budgets or updated proposal packets from RPI prior to award issuance, including review and completion of representations and certifications and other forms which are received in response to proposals.</li></ul>

<ul><li>Provide support for campus functions and events, including event preparation, setup and breakdown, litter control and site restoration.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Protect items being transported and moved using appropriate materials. Protect buildings, elevators, grounds as necessary in preparation for movement of items. Assess building spaces, including rooms, hallways, and/or elevators, and materials to be moved for damage prior to move and document and report any pre-existing damage.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Assist in sustainment of moving equipment, storage areas and equipment maintenance. Notify E&amp;SS management of any equipment needing to be repaired and/or replaced.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Comply with standing instructions provided by operating manuals, safety rules and regulations for personal protection and safety and the safety of others. Report instances of vandalism/theft of Institute property immediately to Supervisor or Public Safety. Maintain work and storage areas in a clean, organized and safe condition.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Perform snow removal functions in accordance with the Institute snow removal plan. Respond to and be available for weather related emergencies as necessary to maintain safe transportation through campus. Operate, maintain and inspect all snow removal equipment in accordance with Institute&rsquo;s standards.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Perform tasks necessary for routine maintenance of campus grounds. Inspect, maintain and operate grounds and field related power equipment at proper working and safety standards. Clean equipment at the end of each use. Report and document any needed repairs of equipment.</li></ul>
