<p></p><div><p>Join our team at Renton Technical College as a Custodian I! We are seeking two candidates to join our custodial team. Our custodial team plays a vital role in ensuring a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for our students, staff, and the community. This is<b> </b>a full-time, classified, and overtime eligible position with a regular schedule of<b> 3:30pm - 12:00am Monday through Friday.</b> The custodial staff are part of the college emergency team and will be required to report to work when the college is closed due to emergencies.</p>
The Custodian I is represented by the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) Classified Union and reports to the Custodial Supervisor. <b>T</b><b>he salary range for this role is $45,133 - $62,540 annually. </b>Salary placement is based on applicable work experience<b>. </b>Additional information is available on our benefits page and in the collective bargaining agreement (Download PDF reader). <div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions Include</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><ul><li>Maintain general cleanliness of interior and exterior of the facility. This includes working effectively independently and in a team atmosphere to accomplish assigned tasks.</li><li>
Maintain floors, walls and windows in assigned buildings.</li><li>
Collect, transport and properly dispose of all trash and recycling as assigned.</li><li>
Clean, disinfect and restock restrooms and locker rooms.</li><li>
Clean and sanitize food prep and service areas.</li><li>
Move furniture, equipment, and supplies as required.</li><li>
Report mechanical malfunctions and damage or hazards to buildings and grounds to Custodial Supervisor.</li><li>
Shovel snow from entrances, stairs and walkways. Spread de-ice as needed.</li><li>
Replace and recycle all lamps (fluorescent/bulbs, etc.) and batteries as needed.</li><li>
Maintain two-way communication at all times when on duty.</li><li>
Open and secure buildings as assigned by the Custodial Supervisor.</li><li>
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the general public.</li><li>
Empty outside trash receptacles as assigned. Pick up litter inside and outside from sidewalks, walkways, stairwells, planted areas, and other common areas daily.</li><li>
Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.</li><li>
Perform other duties as assigned.
</li></ul></div><p></p><div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><ul><li>Experience with persons from diverse backgrounds such as sexual orientation, racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, socio-economic, physical and learning abilities, and a commitment to an inclusive and equitable working/learning environment.</li><li>
One year of work experience in the cleaning industry.</li><li>
Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb a ladder to heights of 25 feet, and be on your feet for an 8-hour shift.</li><li>
Current Grade IV Boiler Operator license or higher is preferred.</li><li>
Ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals whose first language is not English.</li><li>
Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.</li><li>
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, students, staff and the general public.</li><li>
Demonstrated competencies to organize, set priorities, attend to details, and follow tasks through to completion.</li><li>
Ability to represent the college in a positive and professional manner, while using tact, discretion and courtesy.</li><li>
Ability to speak a regionally top spoken language other than English is preferred (Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Somali, and Chinese).</li></ul><br>

WORKING CONDITIONS:</b><br>
Work hours for this position will be swing shift: 3:30 pm to 12:00 am, Monday through Friday. The custodial team is part of the emergency team and is required to report to work when the college is closed due to emergencies.</div><p></p>
