<div>Job Title: Streetlight URD Technician

Department: Operations

Reports To: Streetlight Foreman

FLSA Status: Non- Exempt

Pay Range: $24-$35

Work Schedule: Four 10-hour days per week. 


Position Purpose:

The Streetlight URD Technician (Underground Residential Distribution) performs skilled electrical work in the construction, maintenance, and repair of energized Street Light work. Duties include but are not limited to troubleshooting, repairing, installing and removing overhead streetlight heads, bulbs, photocells and working with URD systems. 


Key Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Troubleshoot and resolve issues with URD systems and components.</li>
<li>Replaces Fiberglass Streetlight Poles.</li>
<li>Finds URD Cable Faults and has knowledge of using fault locating equipment.</li>
<li>Comprehend and read land maps or work orders.</li>
<li>Repairs faults.</li>
<li>Digging and Backfilling to prepare sites for construction.</li>
<li>Comfortable working with voltages up to 600V.</li>
<li>Be comfortable working multiple light circuits on busy roads and highways</li>
<li>Rewiring poles from the arm down to the base of pole</li>
<li>Pulling span wires, climbing ladders, stenciling poles, and replacing handhold covers</li>
<li>Uses and interprets readings from test instruments and devices such as cable path and fault locating equipment, ammeter, rotator, voltmeter, high-voltage phasing tools, and ohmmeter.</li>
<li>Uses a variety of specialized tools and equipment such as hot sticks, hydraulic compression tools, hydraulic saw, impact drill or tension pulling machine.</li>
<li>Performs splicing and terminal connections in open trenches, duct lines or cables poles which may involve making joints or terminations using braid and various types of tape according to specifications or using pre-molded materials to construct indoor terminations, pothheads and elbow terminations.</li>
<li>Maintains company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.</li>
<li>Contribute to the development of and participate in the delivery of the Pre-Job Briefing</li>
<li>All other duties as assigned</li></ul>

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel; and reach with hands and arms. 


Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.

Required Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>High School diploma or equivalent</li>
<li>Must be 18 years of age</li>
<li>Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record</li>
<li>Minimum of 3 years of experience working with URD systems.</li>
<li>Ability to lift to 50 lbs.</li>
<li>Ability to dig and backfill.</li>
<li>Consistently be able to climb in and out of bucket truck up to 25 times daily</li>
<li>Able to read and communicate effectively in English</li>
<li>Ability to travel and work for extended periods in various locations.</li>
<li>Valid CDL or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire is highly preferred.</li></ul>
