<div>Essential Function
<ul>
<li>Develop project deliverables including coordination of engineering disciplines in a highly collaborative team environment</li>
<li>Solve complex problems, providing technical evaluation, and evaluate costs and benefits of alternative solutions for water/wastewater clients</li>
<li>Mentor and develop less experienced/junior engineering professionals, establishing growth opportunities and building project delivery teams
</li><li>Manage a variety of existing and potential water/wastewater facility projects</li>
<li>Manage and deliver world class results on municipal project such as conveyance, sewage collection, stormwater management, water rehabilitation projects and much more
</li><li>Negotiate and mange project scopes of work, schedules and budgets for water/wastewater projects</li>
<li>Routinely utilize internal systems for project management, quality control, and quality assurance</li>
<li>Interface with clients, state and federal agencies and subconsultants to pursue, win and execute water/wastewater projects</li>
<li>Identify and create project opportunities by networking with potential clients, including public and private utilities and related agencies</li>
<li>Support office and firm leadership in marketing and pursuit of new work leads focusing primarily on water/wastewater municipal clients
</li></ul>Required Skills and Experience
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or related engineering field
</li><li>Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in consulting engineering in the municipal Water/Wastewater industry, with a progression of responsibility including project delivery and business development</li>
<li>Existing municipal/private engineering client relationships and/or the ability to develop and nurture such relationships
</li><li>Motivated to find creative solutions to civil engineering problems</li>
<li>Proficiency in communicating technical information</li>
<li>Effective verbal and written communication skills</li>
<li>Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word</li>
</ul>
Preferred Skills and Experience
<ul>
<li>Advanced degree in civil or environmental engineering or related field</li>
<li>Project Management Professional Certification</li>
<li>Professional Engineering (P.E.) registration
</li><li>Proficiency in AutoCAD, BIM</li>

Project Manager - Water/ Wastewater

<div>We are looking to add an experienced Geotechnical Project Manager to our Virginia team. Join us in supporting diverse transportation, transit, and environmental projects such as highway and rail bridges, buildings, retaining walls, slopes, pavements, ground treatment of soft soils and subgrades, and utilities. Ideal candidates possess VDOT and Virginia municipal experience, proactive problem-solving skills, a solid grasp of geotechnical principles, and hands-on expertise in geotechnical/pavement design and field operations. As a senior member, you'll collaborate across disciplines, preparing plans and reports for various geotechnical and pavement projects, supervising field investigations, reviewing design computations, and offering recommendations. Essential Function
<ul>
<li>Assist in leading our geotechnical/pavement design and engineering group throughout Virginia with development and delivery of geotechnical assignments</li>
<li>Assist with Business Development and Marketing Teams to secure future clients and workload</li>
<li>Provide geotechnical expertise on all project aspects associated with conceptual engineering, detailed engineering designs, and preparation of contract documents for construction followed by construction administration with respect to the geotechnical aspects of the project</li>
<li>Foster innovative design concepts related to Geotechnical Engineering to enhance project efficiency</li>
<li>Serve as Project Manager on a variety of geotechnical related projects</li>
<li>Aid in producing construction documents, specifications, and construction cost estimates</li>
<li>Facilitate internal and client meetings and presentations</li>
<li>Serve as a liaison between client and firm</li>
<li>Administer QA/QC for completeness and accuracy of design work</li>
<li>Hire, train, and mentor entry level and junior level Geotechnical engineers</li>
</ul>
Required Skills and Experience
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering</li>
<li>10+ years of Geotechnical Design Experience (5+ years of VDOT experience)</li>
<li>Experience in management of Geotechnical Task Assignments</li>
<li>Passion for client service and engineering</li>
<li>Comprehensive knowledge of VDOT Geotechnical and Pavement MOI's and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specification</li>
<li>Significant understanding of the following software: Microsoft Office, gINT, OpenGrounds, LPile, APile, MSEW, Slide, Settle 3, Slope/w, AASHTOWare Pavement ME, and GRLWEAP</li>
<li>Excellent written and verbal communications skills</li>
<li>Virginia Professional Engineer License
</li></ul>Preferred Skills and Experience

<li>MS or advanced degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering preferred</li>

Project Manager - Geotech

<div>The RK&amp;K Utilities Group is in search of a dynamic, self-motivated Project Engineer that is interested in joining a strong team of designers and engineers working on a diverse range of utility related projects including an exciting variety of small, medium, large and mega projects throughout the Delaware, DC, Maryland and Virginia areas.

In this role, you will work closely with the Utility Project Delivery Leader for developing utility design and utility coordination efforts required to support various transportation and infrastructure projects. Furthermore, collaborate with other interoffice civil engineering disciplines and utility team members to execute work involving utility engineering principals and other related activities. You will assist with planning, design and construction efforts on a variety of engineering projects with a focus on utility improvement, relocation, and coordination.
Candidates will be expected to participate in the process required to facilitate the design and engage with utility owners as required to develop transportation improvements, infrastructure upgrades, and/or site utility elements for building development. Specific roles will involve relocation design, coordination with stakeholders, or the subsurface utility engineering evaluation. Task may also involve electric and telecommunication coordination with overhead and underground utilities and design applications for utility elements involving municipal water, sewer, and conduit facilities. In addition, a knowledge of fiber optics, natural gas, steam, chilled water system design practices are a plus but not required.

Essential Function
<ul>
<li>Prepare design calculations, drawings, and specifications for utility design improvement and relocation projects
</li><li>Conduct technical evaluations to support planning and design related to infrastructure systems</li>
<li>Preparation and review of technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and miscellaneous contract documents</li>
<li>Participate in community project outreach with a focus on utilities</li>
<li>Perform utility record document research and utility field investigations when required</li>
<li>Prepare detailed utility engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates</li>
<li>Review private utility owner policies and procedures</li>
<li>Construction administration and engineering services (submittal review, contract document interpretation, requests for information, shop drawing reviews, correspondence, change requests, and change orders) when required</li>
<li>Communicate effectively and coordinate with clients, utility owners, project teams including other disciplines, such as architects, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical designers, cost estimators, GIS technicians, and other utility design professional
</li><li>Organize and coordinate a subsurface utility engineering task with subcontractors to obtain record utility documents, review utility designation results and evaluate test pit/test hole reports
</li></ul>Required Skills and Experience
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related engineering field</li>
<li>Four (4) or more years of progressive project experience in the study, design, and construction administration of utility improvements, relocation and coordination
</li><li>A self-starter, versatile, and interested in working on a variety of projects supporting the Utility Design Group</li>
<li>Excellent technical writing and communication skills required</li>
<li>Demonstrated proficiency in organization and presentation of documentation</li>
<li>Proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint is required</li>
<li>Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu for initiating plan reviews, QA/QC processes, and project team collaborations
</li></ul>Preferred Skills and Experience
<ul>
<li>Proficiency with CADD platforms that include Micro Station/ Inroad and AutoCAD/Civil 3D. Knowledge of OpenRoads Designer or Revit applications is a plus but not required</li>
