Department: Design &amp; R&amp;D Designation: Carpet Designer Reports To: Head of Design / R&amp;D Manager Location: Quazipur, Bhadohi Employment Type: Full-Time1. Role ObjectiveTo conceptualise, design, and develop original, market-aligned handmade carpet collections that reflect buyer requirements, emerging trends, and RMC&rsquo;s creative standards &mdash; ensuring each design is technically feasible, cost-effective, and production-ready.2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Design Development<ul><li>Interpret design briefs shared by Merchandising (including size, color, theme and quality).</li><li>Research design inspirations, global trends, and material applications relevant to buyer markets.</li><li>Create theme boards, concept sketches, and design proposals for internal and buyer review.</li><li>Develop final design layouts using CAD or manual sketching aligned with production feasibility.</li><li>Prepare and finalize complete Design Spec Packs with color charts, yarn details, texture and finish notes.</li></ul>B. Sampling Coordination<ul><li>Collaborate with R&amp;D/Sampling teams for prototype development and first trials.</li><li>Review physical samples to ensure design fidelity in color, proportion and texture.</li><li>Recommend and record design corrections or improvements as needed before final approval.</li></ul>C. Collaboration &amp; Communication<ul><li>Coordinate with Merchandising for design intent, timelines and buyer-specific aesthetics.</li><li>Liaise with CAD, QA, and Production teams to resolve design feasibility or clarity issues.</li><li>Participate in internal design reviews and collection planning sessions.</li></ul>D. Documentation &amp; Archiving<ul><li>Maintain a comprehensive archive of all approved and rejected designs, including CAD files, color references and sample photos.</li><li>Ensure updates to the Monthly Content &amp; Material Update records.</li><li>Follow systematic file naming and storage conventions for design traceability.</li></ul>3. Skills &amp; Competencies<ul><li>Strong aesthetic and technical understanding of handmade carpets and textile design.</li><li>Proficiency in CAD/design tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, NedGraphics, or equivalent).</li><li>In-depth knowledge of weaving techniques (hand-knotted, tufted, loom-based, flatweave).</li><li>Awareness of international market design preferences (USA, Europe, Canada).</li><li>Excellent collaboration, communication and visualization abilities.</li></ul>4. Qualifications &amp; Experience<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s/Diploma Degree in Textile Design, Fine Arts, Fashion, or related discipline.</li><li>2&ndash;5 years of relevant experience in handmade carpet or home furnishing design.</li><li>Proven portfolio of carpet/rug design work demonstrating creativity and execution capability.</li></ul>5. Reporting &amp; Coordination<ul><li>Merchandising: Receive briefs, share design concepts, review buyer feedback</li><li>CAD Team: Coordinate for layout and color mapping</li><li>R&amp;D / Sampling: Oversee prototype development and ensure design accuracy</li><li>QA &amp; Production: Ensure design feasibility and technical adherence</li><li>Documentation / MIS: Update and maintain design records and archives</li></ul>Job Type: Full-timePay: &#8377;20,000.00 - &#8377;30,000.00 per monthWork Location: In person
