The Dispatcher oversees and coordinates freight traffic and off hour&rsquo;s customer service to ensure that company and customer expectations are met. Communicates with Independent Contractors (I/C) on their availability, match loads with I/C and customers and ensures that all pickups and delivers are met.</div><div></div><div>
Critical Job Functions:</div><ul><li>
Review each terminal&rsquo;s load plan.</li><li>
Answer picks up calls from customers.</li><li>
Prioritize pickups to efficiently use trucks and maximize customer satisfaction.</li><li>
Ensure that all customer pickups are made.</li><li>
Manage pickup and delivery appointments.</li><li>
Give drivers advances to pay for breakdowns and unloading.</li><li>
Administer company policy as needed.</li><li>
Administer tracking system for pickups and delivery.</li><li>
Coordinate freight movement with drivers and freight handlers.</li><li>
Provides assistance and information to Independent Contractors who has broken down notifying origin and destination terminals.</li><li>
Provide safety information to Independent Contractor&rsquo;s in reference to accidents, breakdowns, and delays.</li><li>
Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge.</li><li>
Other duties as assigned.</li></ul><div></div><div>
Job Requirements</div><ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years&rsquo; related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.</li><li>
Relies on written and verbal communication.</li><li>
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.</li><li>
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.</li><li>
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employers of organization.</li></ul><ul><li>
Communicates internally with all corporate office staff, and externally with terminals, line haul contractors, law enforcement and customers.</li></ul><ul><li>
Specific industry or position skills.</li></ul><ul><li>
Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.</li><li>
Preferred knowledge of AS/400.</li></ul><ul><li>
Experience supervising the selection, training, development and appraisal of personnel and work assignments.</li><li>
Average typing, filing and ten key skills.</li><li>
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.</li><li>
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.</li><li>
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.</li><li>
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.</li></ul><ul><li>
Ability to prioritize tasks.</li></ul><ul><li>
Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.</li><li>
Ability to prioritize, organize, and delegate assignments.</li></ul><div></div><div>
