Job Summary 
Manage communication and social media for the Office of Provost. Specifically, this position is responsible for creating, planning and executing communication strategies and initiatives to drive awareness of the provost's priorities. It provides strategic marketing consultation to the provost and Academic Affairs leadership team and facilitates effective communication between the provost and a variety of stakeholders (faculty, staff, administration, students, board of trustees, donors, and others) through the use of websites, print collateral, and social media. This position reports to the Vice Provost of Academic Affairs. 
 
Please be advised: This position is temporarily funded and will be renewed on an annual basis based on funding availability, business need, and performance. Additionally, due to the nature of the work, this position is 100% in-person, on-campus. 
 
Job Responsibilities: 
Content management (40%) 
<ul><li>
Develop, implement, and sustain annual communication strategy across several platforms including the provost's website, e-mail, and social media</li><li>
Write, edit and proofread web content for the Office of Provost website</li><li>
Work with divisional leadership and colleagues to develop and organize content to engage and inform faculty, staff, administrators and other stakeholders</li><li>
Review/Edit or Create and Distribute messages from the entire division of Academic Affairs</li><li>
Review/Edit or Create and Distribute messages regarding new dean announcements or other senior leadership</li><li>
Continuously evaluate and improve display and organization of website content</li><li>
Work with developers to troubleshoot any technical challenges in displaying web content</li><li>
Liaison with central marketing as division contact</li><li>
Manages website upgrades and redevelopment projects</li><li>
Develops schedule of web content audits</li><li>
Develops tactics for driving traffic to the website and improving usability</li><li>
Maintain currency of best practices in the field of content management and apply that knowledge to daily and strategic operations</li></ul>
Social Media (35%)<ul><li>
Write, edit and schedule social media content</li><li>
Work with Event Support Specialist to schedule content for Academic Affairs Events</li><li>
Work with the provost to create and/or edit content for blog</li><li>
Answer communications submitted via social media channels</li><li>
Create weekly social media listening report by reviewing University-wide student social media channels</li><li>
Maintain currency of best practices in the field of social media and apply that knowledge to daily and strategic operations</li><li>
Uses Google Analytics and other sources to<ul><li>
determine success of marketing and communication strategies</li><li>
provide insight and guide content on social media and websites</li><li>
provide regular listening reports on social media channels including X, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, LinkedIn and other channels as needed</li></ul></li></ul>
Writing, editing and production (20%)<ul><li>
Write monthly newsletter</li><li>
Manage email communications for Academic Affairs including gathering content from stakeholders, or writing original content</li></ul>
Other (5%)<ul><li>
Manage notification, tracking, and publication of faculty emeriti</li><li>
Provide communication support to special projects, task forces, committees or other functions of the Office of the Provost</li></ul> 

Required Qualifications: 
<ul><li>
5-7 years communications/administrative experience required, preferably in higher education, with demonstrated success in deploying social media strategies or professional certifications.</li><li>
Experience with social media.</li><li>
Exceptional written communication skills to include writing, editing and proofreading skills, and ability to research and analyze information for both printed publications and web-based communications.</li><li>
Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills.</li><li>
Proficiency with innovative communication technologies.</li><li>
Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.</li></ul>

The division, led by the provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs, includes the RIT colleges and several academic support units. The Academic Affairs team supports the provost to ensure that RIT continues to excel in student-centered learning, teaching, research, and scholarship.

The STRIVE (Statewide Targeted Reductions in Intimate Violence) initiative, administered by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), aims to reduce intimate partner violence in high-need communities by supporting local law enforcement, prosecutors, and victim service providers. 
 
The STRIVE Coordinator will lead the implementation of a county-wide, multi-disciplinary team focused on applying evidence-based strategies to address intimate partner violence. This role serves as the primary liaison between STRIVE partners and DCJS. The STRIVE Coordinator will work closely with chief executives from the Rochester Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Monroe County District Attorney's Office, Monroe County Probation, and the Willow Domestic Violence Center to coordinate efforts and address any barriers preventing the strategy from achieving its desired outcomes.
