RONDOUT VALLEY CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a Senior Typist to support the Director of Facilities and the Buildings &amp; Grounds Department at Rondout Valley CSD.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and takes pride in keeping operations running smoothly. They are detail-oriented, comfortable juggling multiple tasks, and able to communicate clearly with staff, vendors, and the public. This person is proactive, maintains accurate records, meets deadlines consistently, and brings a professional, positive approach to supporting the daily needs of the Buildings and Grounds Department.
This position falls under the Ulster County Civil Service Title, Senior Typist, and will be a provisional appointment, awaiting the Ulster County Civil Service examination.
All Civil Service laws, rules and regulations apply. PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENTS can be made when no valid eligible list exists. These positions may be filled by qualified applicants on a provisional basis until such time as an appropriate eligible list can be established. The UC Personnel Department will hold a competitive examination for this title. The provisional employee will be required to compete against all other qualified applicants. A permanent appointment will then be made from the resulting eligible list.
Minimum Qualifications:
Either:
A. Successful completion of the eighth grade in school, or its equivalent; and, one year of full-time paid clerical experience, or its' part-time equivalent; OR
B. Two (2) years of full-time paid clerical experience, or its part-time equivalent.
Notes:
<div><ul><li>Successful completion of college coursework at a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university may be substituted for up to one year of the work experience required above as follows: One year of work experience equals thirty credit hours.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Successful completion of a clerical training program may be substituted for up to one year of the work experience required above as follows: One year of work experience equals one year of clerical training.</li></ul>
<ul><li>In no case will a candidate qualify for appointment to positions in this class without having at least one year of full-time paid clerical experience, or its part-time equivalent.</li></ul>
</div>Job Duties (include but are not limited to):
<ul><li>Daily attendance/call substitutes/reconcile attendance</li>
<li>Check and answer emails/phone calls/inquiries</li>
<li>Communicate with the Director of Facilities regarding work orders</li>
<li>Oversee collection and submission of payroll information</li>
<li>Purchasing support/ordering</li>
<li>Accounts payable/budget maintenance</li>
<li>Vehicle maintenance records/appointments/inspections</li>
<li>Staff support</li>
<li>Filing</li>
<li>Manage the facilities calendar, approve facilities use and maintain user accounts and staff coverage for events</li>
<li>Director of Facilities support as needed</li>
</ul>Salary: $39,282 &mdash; $41,192 
 
Work Schedule: Full-time, 12 months, Monday-Friday, 7am-3pm during the school year. Summer hours are Monday-Thursday, flexible full-time + shift and Fridays off.
 
 
Additional Duties: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the direct report and/or Superintendent.
