The Opportunity 
As a Total Loss Adjuster, you&rsquo;ll play a critical role in enforcing the fundamental fairness on which our company was founded. You&rsquo;ll be asked to push the boundaries of what&rsquo;s required and to think critically as to what our customers want and how that best aligns with our product. Our goal is to leverage technology, data, and a team of highly talented people to build a claims experience that is recognized as number 1 in the industry. 
Salary Range: $52,900 - $60,000

How You Will Make an Impact 
<ul><li>
Delivers an industry-leading claim experience for all policyholders and claimants</li><li>
Negotiates and settles total loss situations with policyholders and claimants</li><li>
Prepares salvage vehicles for auction and oversees the end-to-end salvage process</li><li>
Consistently makes prompt and courteous contact with every claim customer</li><li>
Maintains and updates a diary/schedule for each claim in the adjuster&rsquo;s pending</li><li>
Responds to claim correspondence in a timely fashion with very high quality</li><li>
Provides input for continuous development of claims guidelines and best practices</li><li>
Recommends potential product developments and process improvements</li><li>
Interacts and communicates effectively with customers, peers, vendors and managers</li><li>
Engages in learning opportunities to build knowledge of personal lines claims, court decisions impacting the claims function, current guidelines in claims function, and policy changes and modifications</li></ul> 
What You Will Need to Succeed 
<ul><li>
Successful experience handling insurance claims, coordinating rental extensions. Experience related specifically to the settling of auto total loss claims preferred.</li><li>
Currently licensed in home state if state required is preferred</li><li>
Ability to obtain and maintain insurance licenses in several states (including Texas) within three months</li><li>
Ability to learn quickly and be adaptable</li><li>
High sense of professionalism while remaining empathetic</li><li>
Familiarity with claims best practices required</li><li>
Curious in nature</li><li>
Great attention to detail</li><li>
Coachable and committed to professional growth</li><li>
Ability to approach problems with an open mind</li><li>

The Opportunity
We are looking for a Staff Data Engineer to join our Data Platform team to drive financial data operations at Root, including commissions payments, incentive programs, and other critical backend financial systems. In this role, you will lead complex technical initiatives across engineers within your domain, ensuring the accuracy, scalability, and reliability of data pipelines that power financial processes. You will partner closely with Finance, Product, and Engineering stakeholders to define strategy, shape the technical roadmap, and deliver systems that support high-stakes financial workflows. As a Staff Data Engineer, you will operate as a technical leader, making architectural decisions and delivering solutions with lasting impact over quarters and years. 
At Root we&rsquo;ve built an end-to-end financial data operations solution with multiple data collection tools, scoring pipelines, and analytics interfaces. Our analysts, data scientists and finance teams leverage this system to build payments and incentives programs. We&rsquo;re looking to drastically increase our capabilities in this space. Your role is to achieve platform level tooling to allow faster onboarding of data sources, integrate data with partners, create faster experimentation cycles, and build the analytics and data science data infrastructure to enable more rapid decision loops.

Salary Range: $168,600 - $215,000 (Bonus and LTI Eligible)

Coach and guide engineers on your team in planning experiments and projects that align with our strategic objectives.</li><li>
Contribute code each development cycle to advance the impact of the team.</li><li>
Lead by example in incident response ensuring we take action to continuously improve the resiliency of our systems.</li><li>
Coordinate with Staff Engineers across the organization to establish and evangelize standards and best practices.</li></ul>
What You Will Need to Succeed<ul><li>
8+ years as a software engineer</li><li>
Expertise in Python, Terraform, SQL, and Spark</li><li>
Expertise in building large scale finance, payments, and commissions systems</li><li>
Expertise in Cloud Architecture - AWS Preferred</li><li>
Proven leadership of projects involving multiple teams across functional domains</li><li>
Excellent communication skills both with engineering colleagues and senior business leaders</li></ul>
