A global company in B2B ecommerce, RS Group&rsquo;s digital department is responsible for over 60 websites worldwide, reaching millions of users every month. Based in Corby (Northamptonshire), London or remote, we are using cloud technologies and DevOps practices to digitally transform the business.</div><br>

We&rsquo;re hiring a software engineer to work within the digital solutions area to create and support AWS based APIs that power our B2B EDI solutions.</div><br>

What You Will Be Doing</b></div><br>

<li>event driven architectures</li>
<li>Database reliant</li>
</ul></div></li></ul></li><li>Own the entire software life cycle:

<li>Build</li>
<li>Operate</li>
</ul></div></li></ul></li><li>Be agile
<ul><li><div><ul><li>Prefer small releases over big bangs</li>
<li>Deploy straight through to production</li>
<li>Frequent, iterative releases</li>

<li>Improve our understanding of the best way of doing things</li>

<li>AWS serverless technologies (e.g. Lambda, API Gateway, SNS, SQS, DynamoDB)</li>
<li>Docker (deployed to Hashicorp Nomad for Java and JavaScript applications)</li>
<li>Kong (API Gateway)</li>
<li>Datadog (logging, monitoring and thresholds)</li>
<li>Vault (secrets management)</li>
<li>Terraform (deploying infrastructure)</li>
<li>Gitlab + Gitlab CI (git repo and continuous integration)</li>
<li>Plus anything else the team finds useful</li></ul><br>

Technical experience needed for the role, minimum of 5 years:</div><br>
<div></div>
<ul>
<li>Experience creating and maintaining Java based services</li>
<li>Experience of designing, building and operating HTTP based services</li>
<li>Experience of working with multiple microservices and distributed systems</li>
<li>Experience working with eventual consistency</li>
<li>Experience working with relational and non-relational databases</li>
<li>Experience improving existing services and ways of working</li>
<li>Cloud computing experience</li>
<li>Continuous integration experience (git based, writing CI scripts)</li>
<li>Experience in one dynamic typed language (e.g. JavaScript, PHP)</li>
<li>Mature approach to testing (e.g. unit tests, integration tests, security auditing)</li></ul><br>
