<p></p><div><div><b>Summary:</b></div>
<div>The Criminal Court program provides a safe reception center and various services to assist survivors and victims of crime navigate through the Criminal Court. The program provides counseling, crisis intervention, case management services, advocacy, information and referrals and practical assistance to survivors and victims of crime with an overall goal of promoting survivor safety and reducing the impact of victimization.</div>
<div>The Coordinator is responsible for providing holistic support services to victims of all crimes. This included counseling and crisis intervention to assess the needs of victims and to help with the development of safety plans to address immediate risks and concerns. This plan may include the provision of in-person or telephone counseling. emergency assistance such as money for transportation. assistance with an Office of Victim Services (OVS) application. providing information and referrals, and follow-up services. and providing assistance with obtaining an order of protection, restitution, and other criminal justice remedies. The Coordinator will advocate on the client&rsquo;s behalf with public entitlement programs, schools, employers, civil legal attorneys, and other community-based organizations, and coordinate and collaborate with the OVS Vocational Rehabilitation Unit and the New York Civil Legal Network to ensure that victims are receiving a comprehensive response. The Coordinator will also assist clients with:</div>

<div><b>Responsibilities:</b></div>
<ul><li>Learn and integrate a trauma-informed, client-centered approach, using an anti-oppressive lens, into your work with clients.</li>
<li>Provide case management services, counseling, and crisis intervention to victims and survivors of crime.</li>
<li>Provide court orientation, criminal justice advocacy, accompaniment and support.</li>
<li>Conduct client-centered safety assessments and prepare risk management plans.</li>
<li>Coordinate and collaborate with the OVS Vocational Rehabilitation Unit and the New York Civil Legal Network to ensure that victims are receiving a comprehensive response.</li>
<li>Assist in the determination of clients&rsquo; eligibility for government-financed housing programs.</li>
<li>Identify, obtain, and assist documents needed for applications for housing.</li>
<li>Identify and maintain resources of key individuals in various agencies (HRA, NYCHA, HPD) to facilitate permanent housing application process.</li>
<li>Provide support to Safe Horizon staff on financial assistance, housing, and public benefits.</li>
<li>Provide emergency practical assistance including transportation, food vouchers, financial assistance, emergency cell phones, and lock replacement.</li>
<li>Provide information and referrals for services such as shelters, long-term counseling, public assistance and other entitlements, and assistance with OVS applications.</li>
<li>Advocate on behalf of clients with the District Attorney&rsquo;s office, family and criminal court personnel and judges, NYPD, NYCHA and other subsidized housing, employers, schools and other social service agencies.</li>
<li>Participate in staff meetings, relevant trainings and workshops.</li>
<li>Perform data entry into a computerized record keeping system. and</li>
<li>Various other duties to be determine by supervisor</li>

<li>Kings County Criminal Court personnel (court clerks, court officers, etc.)</li>
<li>Kings County Family Court and integrated Domestic Violence Court personnel</li>

<li>NYPD</li>
<li>NYCHA and Section 8 staff</li>
<li>OVS</li>
<li>Local social service providers</li>
<li>Other Safe Horizon staff</li>
</ul><div><b>Qualifications:</b></div>
<ul><li>Experience working with survivors of domestic violence and other victims of crime.</li>
<li>Experience with the criminal justice system.</li>
<li>A Bachelor&rsquo;s degree or equivalent experience</li>
</ul><div><b>Knowledge and Skills:</b></div>
<div><i>Required:</i></div>
<ul><li>Sensitivity towards and understanding of victimization, especially the experience of survivors of domestic violence.</li>
<li>Strong communication and organizational skills.</li>
<li>Ability to work under pressure in a calm and reassuring manner.</li>
<li>Ability to generate own tasks and develop creative solutions to problems.</li>

Coordinator Queens Criminal Court

</b></p><p>The Assistant General Counsel assists the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel in representing the legal interests of Safe Horizon, including contractual, real estate, policy, litigation, regulatory, employment, not-for-profit governance, and tax-related matters. Safe Horizon is seeking an experienced attorney who will report directly to the General Counsel, with some dotted-line reporting to the Deputy General Counsel. The Assistant General Counsel will assist with the overall management of the general legal affairs of the organization. This position is a full-time position.</p><br>

<p><b>
Responsibilities:
</b></p><ul><li>Advise General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, senior management and others within the organization on nonprofit corporate, tax, compliance, intellectual property, governance, benefits, litigation, and employment law issues;</li>
<li>Draft, review, revise, and negotiate a variety of contracts, such as agreements with government funders and other third parties, vendor and consultant agreements, and agreements relating to ownership of intellectual property, corporate sponsorships, special events, licensing, real estate and leases, among other things, and advise senior management on related issues;</li>
<li>Support and engage in the antiracism work of Safe Horizon and the General Counsel&rsquo;s Office;</li>
<li>Assist General Counsel with ensuring organizational compliance with contracts, regulations and applicable law, such as lobbying, regulatory and public policy matters and laws relating to charitable solicitations in New York State and nationally;</li>
<li>Oversee the management of Safe Horizon&rsquo;s insurance portfolio and advise on risk management, liability, and insurance matters;</li>
<li>Monitor and advise the General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, and others on legislative developments related to nonprofit organizations, including human resources and benefits-related legislation;</li>
<li>Analyzing statutes, regulations and procedures;</li>
<li>Supervising responses to subpoenas and requests for confidential organizational information;</li>
<li>Assist with supervision of interns, volunteers and fellows;</li>
<li>Communicating independently with outside counsel and representatives of outside funding and/or regulatory agencies;</li>
<li>Monitoring and managing litigation;</li>
<li>Developing and delivering trainings and workshops for staff;</li>
<li>Representing the corporation in court and administrative hearings;</li>
<li>Performing other duties as assigned;</li>
<li>Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively with people with varying levels of education; and</li>
<li>Excellent organizational, managerial skills required. Ability to meet deadlines. Planning, organization and prioritization.</li></ul><br>
