About the Role
We&rsquo;re looking for a dedicated Patient Care Tech to join our team and help us continue delivering the level of care our patients and families deserve. In this role, you&rsquo;ll be a vital part of our clinical staff, working under the supervision of a physician, physician&rsquo;s assistant, nurse practitioner, and/or registered nurse. The patient care technician (PCT) performs a variety of technical functions which contribute to the safety, care and comfort of patients and their families. Responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care, performing technical skills and procedures, conducting routine clerical duties, and participating in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
What You&rsquo;ll Do
Safety:
<ul><li>Adheres to policies and procedures</li>
<li>Performs equipment checks, and reports and removes broken equipment immediately from service</li>
<li>Provides constant observation as directed by the registered nurse</li>
<li>Participates in hourly patient rounding</li>
<li>Responds to patient call lights promptly</li>
<li>Adheres to infection control, safety, fire and disaster policies and procedures</li>
</ul>
Patient Care:
<ul><li>Provides care within the job duties and responsibilities</li>
<li>Responds promptly to patient and family requests for assistance</li>
<li>Obtains and records accurate vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure and reports abnormal findings to RN immediately (include RN name in documentation).</li>
<li>Obtains and records accurate height and weight on admission and periodically as ordered</li>
<li>Applies cardiac and respiratory monitoring leads as directed</li>
<li>Performs 12-Lead EKG and obtains rhythm strips as directed</li>
<li>Performs bedside glucose monitoring in accordance with written policy and procedure and records and reports results</li>
<li>Performs venipuncture to obtain blood specimens for laboratory analysis as directed</li>
<li>Collects urine, stool and nasal specimens for analysis and culture as directed</li>
<li>Correctly apply orthopedic devices</li>
<li>Assists patient to bathroom as necessary, empties urinary drainage bags, and records intake and output as directed</li>
<li>Reports observations to RN in a timely manner and escalates up the chain of command if warranted</li>
</ul>
Equipment Operation:
<ul><li>Use of patient care equipment, such as but not limited to, sphygmomanometer, scales, pulse oximeter, telemetry equipment</li>
<li>Use of patient care transport equipment such as, but not limited to, wheelchairs, Maxi lift, slide sheets, slide boards, and stretchers</li>
<li>Operates pneumatic tube system</li>
<li>Monitors unit supplies to ensure availability and prevent expiry</li>
</ul>
Customer Service
<ul><li>Demonstrates tact, diplomacy and sensitivity when interacting with patients, visitors, and co-workers</li>
<li>Respects patient privacy, maintains confidentiality and displays non-judgmental behavior</li>
<li>Participates in and utilizes appropriate intra- and interdepartmental communication systems</li>
<li>Verbal communication is clear, concise, and relevant</li>
<li>Maintains open lines of communication with peers and other members of the healthcare team</li>
<li>Communicates patient/family needs to the appropriate personnel</li>
</ul>
Clerical:
<ul><li>Answers phones with proper phone etiquette and communicates effectively with patients, families, and colleagues</li>
<li>Coordinates all patient movement on and off the unit in collaboration with the clinicians and nurses</li>
<li>Documents data in accordance with department policy and procedure</li>
</ul>
Ownership:
<ul><li>Accepts constructive feedback from co-workers and management and responds by changing behavior or performance if appropriate</li>
<li>Supports and accepts hospital policies, decisions, and changes</li>
<li>Participates in unit activities and meetings</li>
<li>Reads department communication updates on a timely basis</li>
<li>Completes all mandatory hospital and unit-based competencies/in-services within the required timeframes</li>
</ul>
What You Bring
<ul><li>A high school diploma or equivalent is required</li>
<li>Previous emergency department, nursing school student, EMT and/or equivalent experience preferred
</li><li>Prior medical office experience beneficial</li>
<li>Must possess above-average typing skills and the ability to use information systems</li>
<li>Medical terminology preferred</li>

About the Role
We&rsquo;re looking for a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join our team. You will assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing disorders. Assume primary responsibility for all respiratory care modalities. Initiates and conducts therapeutic procedures; maintains patient records; and selects, assembles, checks, and operates equipment. Performs all duties under the direction of a Physician. You will help us continue delivering the level of care our patients and families deserve. In this role, you&rsquo;ll be a vital part of our Respiratory Therapy team, ensuring excellent service, collaboration, and patient outcomes in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
What You&rsquo;ll Do
<ul><li>Conducts patient assessment and interprets patient information and recommends appropriate therapeutic plan of care. Utilizes evidence based practice and critical thinking skills.</li>
<li>Monitors patient's physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes, and consult with physician if adverse reactions occur. Reads prescription, measure arterial blood gases, and review patient information to assess patient condition. Develops and/or changes plan of care based on the assessment/reassessment process and/or changes in patient status.</li>
<li>Works as part of a team of physicians, nurses and other health care professionals to manage patient care. Assumes leadership role as needed, delegates and assists in patient care as appropriate.</li>
<li>Actively participates on committees, councils, policy development and professional organizations as appropriate.</li>
<li>Sets up and operates devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators, following specified parameters of treatment. Performs intubation and extubation.</li>
<li>Provides emergency care, including artificial respiration, external cardiac massage and assistance with cardiopulmonary resuscitation.</li>
<li>Educates patients and their families about their conditions and teaches appropriate disease management techniques, such as breathing exercises and the use of medications and respiratory equipment.</li>
<li>Performs chest physical therapy, including postural therapy, percussion vibratory, oscillary procedures, suctioning and airway management.</li>
<li>Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in alignment with Saratoga Hospital values</li>
<li>Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support health, healing, and service excellence</li>

<li>Licensed through the New York State Education Department as an RRT. Required to be Registered with one year of their date of hire. Required to obtain ACLS, PALS &amp; NRP within 6 months of hire. CPR certified. Certification from NBRC required within 1 yr from date of hire.</li>

What You&rsquo;ll Do
<ul><li>Safely transport patients and materials (to include blood and specimens) within the hospital and nursing home
</li><li>Delivers Code Blue Crash Carts, Latex Carts and Urology Catheter Carts as needed</li>
<li>Employs safe lifting techniques when transporting patients to and from beds, exam tables, stretchers and wheelchairs</li>
<li>Sets up different types of traction for patient use</li>
<li>Transports deceased patients to the morgue</li>
<li>Picks up requisitions for blood, pharmacy meds and slips from required units and delivers to the appropriate service; delivers stat, lab specimens, and medical charts</li>
<li>Inventories and exchanges oxygen cylinder and other gas tanks to maintain patient needs</li>
<li>Inventories and fills over the counter General Stores products correctly and efficiently</li>
<li>Perform responsibilities with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency</li>
