Pay Rate: $18.00 an hours, plus $$1.50 shift premium pay
Shift Hours: 2:30 PM to 8:00 PM - 3 to 5 Days per week (flexible)!</div><div></div><div>
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</div><div><div><div><div><ul><li>
Assist in the production of book fairs, by packing metal cases, boxes, and displays with book and non-book product, according to corporate process and procedure and meeting productivity and quality standards.</li><li>
Demonstrate proficiency in packing all components and sub-components for all cases, boxes, and displays.</li><li>
Consistently meet minimum required production, accuracy or quality standards for the work performed.</li><li>
Ensure condition of all outbound cases, boxes, and displays are clean, safe, and in good condition.</li><li>
Assist in the processing of returned book fairs, by unpacking metal cases, boxes, and displays with book and non-book product, according to corporate process and procedure and meeting productivity and quality standards.</li><li>
Monitor inventory levels on applicable component product lines to ensure book fairs can be properly packed.</li><li>
Learn and demonstrate basic scanner proficiency, i.e. item inquiries and requesting replenishment of Pick locations.</li><li>
Assist in the picking and packing of customer reorders</li><li>
Ensure that your work area is neat, clean, safe, and organized at all times.</li><li>
Individually, and in partnership with other co-workers, perform seasonal inventory production-line resets.</li><li>
Learn and demonstrate proficiency in all Fair Finishing and Assembly functions, including the Quality Assurance scanning functions.</li><li>
Participate and assist in Physical Inventory functions, including the counting of inventory.Participate and assist in conducting Customer Appreciation Warehouse Sale Events.</li><li>
Responsible for the careful handling of all merchandise at all times.</li><li>
Ensure that all warehouse equipment and tools are properly utilized to increase productivity, efficiency, and safety; report any unsafe conditions, damaged equipment or injury (to self or co-worker) to your supervisor or manager immediately.</li><li>
Utilize proper techniques for lifting, packing, and handling heavy objects, climbing ladders and pushing/pulling display cases.</li><li>
Accurately and timely complete Labor Data Collection Cards to according to company standards.</li><li>
May operate motorized pallet jacks upon successful completion of the SBF power equipment training program.</li><li>
Maintain attendance and punctuality as required by assigned work schedule and within company standards.</li><li>
Maintain a courteous and positive relationship with all co-workers and customers.</li><li>
Drug and alcohol free policy compliance.</li><li>

THE OPPORTUNITY
Scholastic, the global children&rsquo;s publishing, education, and media company, is seeking an Internal Communications Coordinator to join the Corporate Communications and Events team. Based at Scholastic&rsquo;s corporate headquarters in SoHo, New York, this role is perfect for those with excellent writing and organizational skills and an interest in building a career in communications. The coordinator will play a critical role in growing engagement with the Scholastic brand internally by supporting employee marketing campaigns, writing and publishing content for the Scholastic Intranet, brainstorming creative ways to communicate and connect with our internal audiences, and building awareness about company initiatives, new releases, and events. 
This role will report to the Senior Director of Internal Communications.
RESPONSIBILITIES<ul><li>
Plan, edit, write, and post content for a variety of global internal communications channels, such as the employee Intranet, Teams, email announcements, and the weekly email newsletter</li><li>
Conduct author interviews, employee profiles and round-up articles and emails for the intranet</li><li>
Work with cross-functional departments, including but not limited to Scholastic Entertainment, Information Security, and corporate donations to develop communications strategies and build awareness for programs and initiatives</li><li>
Have primary responsibility for planning and supporting &ldquo;employee celebration&rdquo; days around key publications, Clifford&rsquo;s Birthday, movie releases and more</li><li>
Lead weekly editorial meetings by suggesting newsletter content, story order, and reviewing and updating internal editorial calendars for stories, memos and newsletter content each week</li><li>
Have primary responsibility for setting up and sending emails and our weekly newsletter via our email distribution platform</li><li>
Assist the team in updating and keeping intranet content relevant and up to date</li><li>
Support various communications distribution channels, including updating weekly and monthly mailing lists and perform other administrative or organizational tasks as needed</li></ul>

The position provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of children&rsquo;s books by supporting two editors whose projects range from middle grade and young adult fiction to picture books, in addition to managing departmental duties for our fiction team. A passion for children&rsquo;s books is a must and some prior publishing experience would be ideal.
 
 
 
 Responsibilities

 Primarily a support role: Must provide clerical and editorial support for managers, including metadata/systems input, preparing materials for meetings, ordering books, and mailing. Daily responsibilities include all-around project support, as well as acting as the pointperson for inquiries from other departments, including legal, sales, production, design, and marketing. Both managers have high profile, revenue-driving lists with authors for whom author care is especially important.
 </li>

 This position will assist with administrative work related to the fiction group, including note-taking, meeting set-up, and group planning. Participation in editorial brainstorming sessions will be an essential part of the creative enterprise.

 Read and evaluate agent submissions for managers and, once trained, review book passes and proofs for managers. Draft cover copy and fact sheets. Will be asked to do second reads on manuscripts or submissions for managers.
