<div><div>JOB SUMMARY:
<br>
The Science Teacher will develop students&rsquo; awareness of the role of science in economic and social progress, motivate students to acquire knowledge of scientific principles and skills in scientific method of problem solving, and discover and develop special talents of students in scientific fields.<br>
<br>
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:<br>
<ul><li>Teaches courses in science using the appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content.</li><li>Instructs, monitors, and adjusts teaching activities, curriculum, and teaching strategies to assure student achievement.</li><li>Develops a balanced science program involving factual background material, material on current science events, discussion time, and other appropriate activities designed to encourage students to develop skills and attitudes, draw conclusions, achieve improved interpersonal relationships, and make valued judgments based on scientific methods of inquiry.</li><li>Provides individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual abilities, attitudes, and cultural backgrounds.</li><li>Makes current material available to students, plans and guides discussions of current scientific developments.</li><li>Evaluates and selects books, equipment, and instructional aids and supplies and maintains required inventory.</li><li>Participates in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).</li><li>Attends staff meetings as well as serves on staff and district committees as requested.</li><li>Participates in various meetings (e.g., parent conferences, site meetings, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information.</li><li>Works cooperatively with Special Education teachers to modify curriculum as needed for special education students according to Individual Education Plans (IEPs).</li><li>Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities/areas as assigned.</li><li>Uses data to make informed decisions about students regarding behavior and academics.</li><li>Evaluates academic and social growth of students, prepares report cards, keeps appropriate records including attendance reports, and other records, as necessary.
</li><li>Collaborates with other department staff to develop lesson plans, teaching strategies and interventions.
</li><li>Creates an environment conducive to learning and that is appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
</li><li>Interacts in a positive, constructive manner with students, families, teaching assistants and other professionals.</li><li>Models the district Vision of &ldquo;all means all&rdquo; and demonstrates a willingness to become an active contributor to the school culture and our continual school improvement process.
</li><li>Demonstrates knowledge around state standards, PBIS, restorative practices, technology to support students, and professionalism.</li><li>Maintains professional competence by attending staff development programs, curriculum development meetings, other professional activities as required by the district, and self-selected professional growth activities.
</li><li>Demonstrates proficiency in the WI Educator Standards, district teaching expectations and delivery of the WI content standards for Science, and federal or state laws pertaining to students.</li><li>Performs all other duties as assigned by Administration.</li></ul><br>
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:<br>
<ul><li>Valid License in Science from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI).
</li><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Education/Science.</li></ul><br>
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:<br>
<ul><li>Experience working as a Science Teacher.</li></ul></div></div>
