<div>Scientific Adventures for Girls (SAfG) is on a mission to close the STEM gender gap &mdash; one hands-on science class, one confident girl at a time. We're looking for a creative, detail-driven Communications Coordinator to help us tell that story to the world.
If you love turning a classroom moment into a scroll-stopping Instagram post, a donor newsletter into a page-turner, or a press pitch into a headline &mdash; this is your role.
The Communications Coordinator position is part-time, hourly, non-exempt. This role reports directly to the Director of Development and Communications and plays a central part in communications and marketing.
COMMITMENT:<ul><li>
15 - 20 hrs / week</li><li>
Monday - Friday; specific days and hours to be finalized</li><li>
Required in the office 3 days per week (hybrid schedule) based on organizational needs</li><li>
Based out of our Berkeley office, with occasional local travel (e.g., networking events, fundraising events, visiting printers)</li></ul>

YOUR ROLE IN A NUTSHELL<ul><li>
Own our social presence &mdash;using agency strategy, create and publish content across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and beyond</li><li>
Design and format newsletters &amp; email campaigns that keep donors, families, and volunteers engaged</li><li>
Capture the magic &mdash; attend programs and events to gather photos, videos, and stories straight from the source</li><li>
Keep our website fresh &mdash; update content, program info, and event listings</li><li>
Submit and track press releases sent to appropriate news outlets and reporters</li><li>
Bring events to life &mdash; design flyers, invitations, and promotional materials, and provide live coverage on-site</li></ul>
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
A qualified candidate will possess a combination of the following education and/or equivalent experience:<ul><li>
2&ndash;4 years of experience in communications, marketing, journalism, or PR</li><li>
A sharp eye for visual storytelling (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar)</li><li>
Comfort with social platforms, email marketing tools (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc.), and a CRM or database</li><li>
Strong writing chops and the organizational skills to juggle multiple projects at once</li><li>
A valid driver's license and reliable transportation for occasional local travel</li><li>
Bonus points: nonprofit experience, Spanish (or other multilingual) skills, or a soft spot for STEM/youth programming</li></ul>
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

Ability to work at a computer and perform repetitive motions 70% of the time.</li><li>
Ability to occasionally lift and move office supplies and equipment up to 40 lbs.</li><li>
Ability to travel locally as needed (e.g., networking events).</li><li>
Ability to be physically present in the office 3 days per week.</li></ul>

SAfG is on a mission to break down barriers for girls in STEM from an early age. Our hands-on programs in East Bay schools aim to inspire, equip, and engage girls in STEM fields. We're paving the way for future female scientists and engineers!
