<div>Scott &amp; Associates, P.C., is a well-established multi-state legal recoveries law firm seeking a motivated Attorney to join our Houston, Texas team.
Since our inception in May 2000, we've evolved into a significant player in debt recovery litigation, providing comprehensive solutions for major banks and creditors.
This position is a salary plus commission-eligible opportunity with no billable hour requirement. Commissions are based on attorney-negotiated settlements. 
Must be licensed and in good standing with the State of Texas. Salary is dependent upon qualifications.<ul><li>
The successful candidate will possess excellent organizational skills and familiarity with courtroom and civil procedures.</li><li>
General comfort with technology and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.</li><li>
The candidate must be able to work independently and professionally interact with staff, opposing counsel, and the courts.</li><li>
Collection experience is preferred but not required, training is available.</li></ul> 
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:<ul><li>
The review and approval of new claims within the Attorney&rsquo;s jurisdiction(s). This includes meeting state level goals for consistent case movement.</li><li>
Under the direction of the Managing Attorney/Regional Attorney, assists with management and supervision of jurisdictional inventory. This includes exception and queue management.</li><li>
Conduct document review and discovery</li><li>
Execute documents requiring Attorney&rsquo;s signature</li><li>
Communicate with Managing Attorney/Regional Attorney and clients in order to discuss details of cases</li><li>
Assist in responding to litigation specific components of all client audits</li><li>
Monitor relevant legal rules, regulations, statutes, and case law</li><li>
Conduct research and analysis of legal problems</li><li>
Analyze the probable outcomes of cases, using knowledge of legal precedents</li><li>
Prepare and file legal documents</li><li>
Manage and resolve collection litigation</li><li>
Work with Pro Se litigants, opposing counsel, or other interested parties to settle files throughout the litigation process</li><li>
Oversees and interacts with outside collections and defense counsel</li><li>
Supports corporate compliance with laws and regulations governing debt collection and related activities</li><li>
All other duties as assigned by the Managing Attorney or Regional Attorney.</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)</h2><ul><li>
Graduate of an accredited institution by the American Bar Association (ABA) with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree</li><li>
Licensed to practice law</li><li>
Demonstrated case analysis ability and a track record of proven settlement skills</li><li>
Proficient in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Power Point</li><li>
Proficient in internet and online research</li><li>
Ability to operate basic office equipment such as a copy machine, printer, scanner, and computer</li><li>
Effective oral and written communication skills with knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation usage</li><li>
Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively</li><li>
Excellent organizational skills with an eye for details</li><li>
Ability to be flexible to adapt and act quickly when urgent matters require it</li><li>
Ability to work and maintain patience with diversified individuals of various ethnic backgrounds and professional competencies</li><li>
Ability to maintain confidentiality</li><li>
Ability to represent the company in various forums to foster the desires and image of the company in the community</li></ul></div>
