We are looking for a Plant Manager to join our Scotts Miracle Gro team in Independence, OR!
In this role you will:
<ul><li>Establish plant short and long-range strategic operating objectives. Oversee plant operations including production, field, warehouse, shipping and receiving, maintenance and office management; ensures compliance with federal and state regulations; monitors and enforces quality control standards; forecasts and schedules production; develops and/or approves all plant operating policies.</li>
<li>Direct, manage and develop supervisory personnel to ensure efficient and safe operation of the plant.</li>
<li>Establish, communicate, implement and enforce safety programs and procedures.</li>
<li>Establish and monitor plant operating budget; prepares and analyzes profit and loss statements; identifies and implements improvements to positively affect profitability. Recommends purchase of all capital equipment and plant expansion.</li>
<li>Identify all possible sources of raw material while monitoring quality and cost effectiveness; negotiate supplier and vendor contracts and ensures the quality of all purchased supplies and services.</li>
<li>Establish and monitor plant compensation levels to ensure internal equity and external competitiveness; reviews subordinate recommendations for salary adjustments of lower level supervisory, office and hourly personnel.</li>
<li>Foster and maintain a high level of customer service through on-time deliveries, responsiveness to customer needs and ensuring that the quality of the shipped product meets all customer quality requirements.</li>
<li>Communicate with other plant managers to share ideas and resources. Works with Director of Regional Operations, salespeople and corporate office personnel to ensure efficient operation of plant.</li>
<li>Develop and maintain positive community relations: participates in community activities and/or organizations to promote good will and a positive company image.</li>
</ul>What you&rsquo;ll need to be successful:
<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field strongly preferred; equivalent experience in plant or operations management will also be considered.</li>
<li>Minimum 5 years of overall manufacturing experience in a leadership role, including responsibility for P&amp;L, safety, quality, associate development, production, and financial and inventory management</li>
<li>Track record of building a high-performing team to succeed in a demanding, fast-moving, and growth-oriented atmosphere</li>
<li>Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills with a proven record of building strong relationships and collaborating with frontline associates through senior company leaders</li>
<li>Keen business acumen and attention to detail with a solid record of leading change and delivering superior safety and business results</li>
<li>Working knowledge of all facets of manufacturing including continuous improvement, team building, safety, associate relations, quality, customer service, purchasing, distribution, marketing and financials.</li>
</ul>The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $118,700.00 - $139,700.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.In addition to the determined base salary, this role is also incentive eligible under our corporate bonus programs.For remote roles where the final candidate resides in Alaska, California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oregon or Washington, state required pay thresholds will be factored into base salary.

The pay for this position at Scotts/Hawthorne will generally fall between $20.70 - 28.10 per hour and is paid weekly. Scotts/Hawthorne will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.
In this role you will:
<ul><li>Coordinate Scotts and Growing Media freight ensuring maximum efficiency as well as timely deliveries.
</li><li>Negotiate freight rates with contract carriers.
</li><li>Maintain and processes all necessary records and paperwork to ensure that private fleet as well as contract carriers are in compliance with state, federal and local regulations. Confirm and/or process orders and bills of lading.
</li><li>Advise customers on delivery scheduling and order problems; develop production schedules in conjunction with the Production Supervisor; work with production personnel and other Growing Media Plants to coordinate shipments; responds to inquiries from customers, truck drivers, corporate personnel, etc.
</li><li>Cross train and fill in the general office duties such as scale operation, AP fill in, production entry fill in, inventory posting fill in or other general tasks as needed.
</li><li>Perform special projects and other office duties as requested.
</li></ul>What you'll need to be successful:
<ul><li>A High School Diploma
</li><li>Two years experience in a traffic or freight related field.
</li><li>Previous experience dispatching trucks
</li><li>Microsoft Office and computer skills
</li><li>Strong leadership and communication skills
</li><li>The ability to manage multiple priorities at once with a strong customer service orientation
</li><li>Prior Negotiation experience
</li><li>Knowledge of state, local and federal DOT regulations
</li><li>Knowledge of office procedures.
