POSITION TITLE: Research Technician

POSITION SUMMARY: 
Perform a variety of routine scientific tasks; may prepare test specimens; set up and operate standard lab equipment of moderate complexity.

<li>Requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline and up to one (1) year of related experience.</li>
<li>Three (3) to six (6) years of related laboratory experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.</li>

COMPENSATION:

The expected hiring range for this position is $18.67 to $24 per hour, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.

POSITION TITLE: Animal Models Core Scientist, Sr.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Animal Models Core Scientist, Sr. is responsible for overseeing rodent testing to provide a wide range of in vivo tests to the Scripps Research community as well as to the greater San Diego research community and beyond. A primary focus of this core is to provide tests that allow investigators to make transitions from laboratory findings to clinical applications by enabling the modeling of human diseases and the development of medications and other treatment strategies.

RESPONSIBLITIES AND DUTIES:
<ul>
<li>Oversees and implements rodent behavioral and physiological testing, surgical procedures, compound administration protocols, and brain and tissue harvesting.</li>
<li>Offers training in all core services, experimental design advice, help with IACUC animal protocol submission, assistance with grant proposals and papers, data analysis, and results interpretation/follow-up study advice.</li>
<li>Meets with potential core users and works collaboratively to design test batteries and experimental plans, including modification to existing tests and the development of new tests.</li>
<li>Prepares service quotes, invoices, and annual budgets.</li>
<li>Assists with managing a team of 6-8 employees + interns.</li>
<li>Supports a diverse inter- and multi-disciplinary research environment by meeting challenges through innovative and creative problem solving.</li>
</ul>
REQUIREMENTS:
<ul>
<li>PhD in Behavioral Neuroscience, Neuroscience, Psychological Sciences, or related field.</li>
<li>5+ years of experience in rodent behavioral testing.</li>
<li>Experience with at least two of the following techniques:</li>
<li><ul><li>Rodent intracranial cannulation surgery and injections</li>
<li>Rodent electroencephalography: surgical preparation and data analysis</li>
<li>Rodent intravenous jugular catheterization surgery</li>
<li>Rodent brain microdissection</li>
<li>Rodent intracardiac perfusion techniques</li>
</ul></li><li>People management and teaching and/or mentoring experience required.</li>
<li>Experience with IACUC processes and writing protocols preferred.</li>
<li>Excellent experimental design and data analysis skills.</li>
<li>Excellent organizational, time management skills, and communication skills- both written and verbal.</li>
<li>Ability to communicate with a diverse array of people from a wide variety of cultural and educational backgrounds, individually or in groups.</li>
<li>Must be willing to spend ~25% time doing hands-on laboratory work.</li>
<li>Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks; completing assigned tasks in an organized, timely fashion while meeting all target deadlines.</li>
<li>Must be a highly motivated, self-starter with meticulous attention to detail.</li>
</ul>
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Will work with laboratory animals, work under red and dim lighting conditions, utilize personal protective equipment (PPE), work in biocontainment facilities, work with anesthetics and scheduled drugs, stand for long periods of time and lift equipment of at least 10 pounds. May include: Stationary position for an extended period of time, traverse campus/facility as needed, operate machinery such as computer, phone, copy machine; exposure to cold or hot temperatures.

COMPENSATION: The expected hiring range for this position is $100,000 to $120,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.

POSITION TITLE: Financial Analyst II, R&amp;D Strategic Finance 


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Financial Analyst II, R&amp;D Strategic Finance, supports financial strategy, planning, and analysis across a complex portfolio of sponsored research and institutional funding. This role partners closely with principal investigators (PIs) and administrative leadership to provide forward-looking financial insights, manage funding constraints, and support decision-making in a dynamic, grant-driven environment. The analyst will translate financial data into actional guidance, balancing strategic planning with hands-on problem solving. 


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
<ul>
<li>Develop and maintain complex financial projections, including grant-funded runway analyses, scenario modeling, and long-range planning across multiple funding sources.</li>
<li>Monitor and analyze funding utilization, identifying risks such as funding gaps, over-expenditures, and timing misalignments; proactively recommend mitigation strategies.</li>
<li>Manage multiple reporting deliverables and deadlines, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting to PIs, leadership, and external stakeholders</li>
<li>Serve as a primary financial partner to principal investigators (PIs) and research teams, translating financial data into clear guidance on spending, staffing, and funding strategy ensuring financial oversight and compliance monitoring</li>
<li>Maintain accurate and up-to-date records across multiple systems, ensuring proper setup and alignment with award requirements by reviewing and interpreting funding agreements and adjusting award and plan lines as needed</li>
<li>Ensure organized and audit-ready documentation in accordance with institutional and sponsor requirements</li>
<li>Details of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.</li></ul> 


REQUIREMENTS:
<ul>
<li>2+ years of experience in financial analysis within life sciences, academic research, healthcare, or similarly complex, matrixed environments required; experience supporting grant-funded or restricted funding environments strongly preferred.</li>
<li>Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., Workday) and strong proficiency in Excel; experience with data visualization or reporting tools (e.g., Power BI) is a plus.</li>
<li>Ability to understand business drivers, develop insights utilizing a data-driven approach, and communicate succinctly to a range of different audiences (principal investigators to executives).</li>
<li>Adaptable to changing priorities while effectively managing multiple commitments.</li>
<li>Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to build cross-functional relationships across scientific and administrative teams.</li>
<li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in finance or similar field.</li>
<li>This is an on-campus position requiring 4 days per week working onsite from our La Jolla campus, with flexibility to work 1 day per week remotely from home.</li></ul> 


COMPENSATION:

The expected hiring range for this position is $90,000 to $103,500/annually, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
