<div>Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Health Center Manager, the Medical Receptionist performs a variety of tasks related to the development and maintenance of medical records. As a team member, the Medical Receptionist will demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the staff, patients, families and visitors of all age groups, while being sensitive to their culture and religious beliefs.
Job Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Updates patient&rsquo;s information at each visit</li><li>
Greets patients and visitors in a courteous manner</li><li>
Keeps adequate supplies on hand</li><li>
Understands the importance of patient confidentiality</li><li>
Routinely checks the lobby for cleanliness</li><li>
Effectively scans charts into system daily</li><li>
Keys and checks daily charges for accuracy and makes necessary corrections</li><li>
Completes end of the day reports and checks deposit slips with activity report</li><li>
Balances the cash box each morning and afternoon</li><li>
Collects fees from patients at the time of visit or makes payment arrangements</li><li>
Interviews all patients who apply for sliding scale payment plan accurately</li><li>
Keeps the work area clean and organized</li><li>
Deal with difficult patients</li><li>
Collects patient satisfaction surveys</li><li>
Assists the Manager as requested</li><li>
Faxes information to other locations in a timely manner</li><li>
Gives patients appointment cards for return visits</li><li>
Gives patients receipts for payments</li><li>
Understand the computerized medical records system</li><li>
Prints and mails medical records in a timely manner</li><li>
Answers the telephone, takes messages and schedules appointments accurately</li><li>
Notates in the medical record when patients no shows or cancel appointments</li><li>
Verifies insurance accurately</li><li>
Maintains prompt and regular attendance</li><li>
Verify timecard at the end of each pay period</li><li>
Performs related work, as assigned</li><li>
Must be flexible and willing to float to other clinic locations as needed to support operational needs, ensure adequate coverage, and maintain quality patient care</li><li>
Completes the required IT/Security trainings prior to the deadline</li></ul>
Job Requirements:<ul><li>
Must be able to report to various SeMRHI locations</li><li>
Must have a high school diploma or GED</li><li>
Basic Computer and typing skills required</li><li>
Some experience in a business/clerical related field</li><li>
Knowledge of basic record keeping and filing system</li><li>
Demonstrate skill of written and oral communications</li><li>
Be able to perform multiple tasks</li><li>
Must demonstrate a positive personal attitude, such as professionalism</li></ul>
Physical and Other Requirements:<ul><li>
Must be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen and physical assessment</li><li>
Must be willing to do local and out-of-state travel</li><li>
Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time</li><li>
Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 lbs routinely</li></ul></div>
